Karen speaking about what her husband loved to do.

RIP Doug and to all those who lost their lives that day.

One On The Ground
The Story of One Family Before, During and After Continental Flight 3407 Crashed Into Their Home written by Karen Wielinski
Review written by HeidiLynn's BookReviews

First, I want to thank Karen Wielinski for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

This review is written in the memory of Doug Wielinski and all the lives lost in Continental Flight 3407. My thoughts and prayers go out to Doug’s wife Karen, his daughters, and the families that lost loved ones in Continental Flight 3407 in Clarence, NY.

One on The Ground the Story of One Family Before, During and After Continental Flight 3407 Crashed Into Their Homes by Karen Wielinski automatically caught my attention! Not just because it was a fascinating cover that caught my attention. Because this was a huge tragedy and news event that happened right in Clarence, NY not too far from where I lived in Williamsville, NY at the time! That day that I saw this book I was attending the Indie Author Book Signing Event at the Downtown Buffalo and Erie County Library. It was here where I got to meet the Karen Wielinski the author of the book and heard her side of the story! I was in shock and kept saying over and over I need to give you a hug for all that you went through. Sure, enough I got that hug! It was right there and then I knew I must read and review her book.

Through everything Karen has been through over all she is a very strong woman. She has poured her heart and soul into this book and it shows. It is incredibly detailed by the dates and what happened during that time frame. This is not just her story about what happened, the amazing man her husband was, but Karen’s daughters’ reactions when they found the news to the accident and their father.

This book is broken down into five parts and in each part are broken down into specific chronological dates. Part 1 is from February 2009-2010:  a journal of what they encountered each month, followed by pertinent stories past and present. Part 2 The 3407 Families: Her acceptance of her new family. Part 3 6038 Long Street: Karen’s involvement in the completion of the memorial and the connection with Long Street Residents. Part 4 The Trial: Events leading up to the trial and emotions swirling around legal processes. Part 5 Aftermath: Our life today.

In this book you will find beautiful pictures of the Wielinski Family, pictures of Karen and Doug on their wedding day and later on at Christmas, etc.

I am proud to be a Western New Yorker and to read how this town came together to help Karen and all the families of flight 3407!

Karen feels very blessed to have her daughters in her life and without them she would be lost. She thanks their husbands for putting up with all the Wielnski woman at once all the time.

She thanks the Clarence Central School District for Immediately stepping up following the crash. They were swamped with phone calls yet still provided them with continued support. They always maintained the upmost privacy during this time.

My ultimate favorite picture of Karen can be found on her author page. The caption reads “the bond of love unites us, and we celebrate life around us by Doug’s Spirit.”

Karen Wilenski is a freelance writer who lives in East Aurora, NY since 2010.  Along with the love of her daughters and grandchildren, she continues to be involved with her writing groups as they are her inspiration.

It is with Karen’s hopes that you get to see the happiness and love that she has shared with her family and Doug through the pages of this book. She wants to demonstrate the courage and the strength of the families of flight 3704. These people who were once ordinary have now become extraordinary through this tragedy.

This review is in Memory of Doug Wielinski.
May he RIP.

Doug had always had a love for history and sharing what he knew with others. After the crash Karen's daughter commented on how fitting that now he is a part of history.

This is where the Douglas C Wielinski Fund was established in 2009 to provide assistance to students with genuine love for history. It is Karen's hope that some of the profits of this book will go to the fund as well.

Review: Tailor Made by Tasha Lewis

Author Tasha Lewis

Tailor Made
By Tasha Lewis
Review by HeidiLynn's BookReviews

First, I want to thank Tasha Lewis for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

After reading Tailor Made by Tasha Lewis all I have to say is where do I sign up for my own Tailor Made?! Tasha instantly made me fall head over heals deep in love with everything about Mason in this book!! Tasha’s debut novel was unlike anything I’d read before! The story line was very creative, had a lot of heart, and extremely fun to read. This book will have you smiling ear to ear!

Tasha’s beginning of the book when she wrote “For you believe in yourself dream big achieve”. That made me smile.

This book was so incredibly different than anything out there that I have ever read before. It had moments where I was laughing out loud, It had relatable characters, unique character names, the storyline was so very fresh and unique.

I saw a lot of Rayleigh in me in the fact that I have had not much luck in the men department either. I would pick men like she would and try to change their flaws. Realizing you can’t change anyone and they need to do it for themselves. I would be skeptical of this service just like she was. So, when I say the characters are real and relatable, I mean it.

You could tell by Tasha’s writing style that this book was very near and dear to her heart. She seemed very passionate about many of characters and it came across in the amazing stories.
I wanted to give Mason and Rayleigh a huge hug for they went through on how they both lost their parents.

I loved this quote in the book “I always thought that paperbacks were a dying art, but it always turns out they’re making a comeback. And having the book signed by the author makes the book even more valuable, or so Shelby Insets.”

The close bonds of friendship in this book I loved and admired. The best friendship between Kat and Rayleigh, brother and sister relationship in Mason and Shelby, and the budding relationship in Rayleigh and Mason.

Review: Mourning Routine Funeral Fakers Book 1

Author S.E. Babin

Mourning Routine
Funeral Fakers
Book 1
Written by S.E. Babin
Review by HeidiLynn's BookReviews

First, I would like to thank S.E. Babin for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Mourning Routine The Funeral Fakers, Book 1 by S.E. Babin first caught my eye for the amazingly adorable cartoonish cover. Once I saw that I had to read the synopsis of the book. This was my first time reading from this author however came recommended by Melissa Storm. If you have read my reviews before you know I am huge fan of hers. So, If she suggests her she must be good. Needless to say she was correct! I found this book to be cute, funny at times, and very suspenseful like I like in my books. However, you would never guess that this would be a mystery book by looking at the cover. I guess you really cant judge a book by its cover.

It was extremely comical to me that an unemployed Actress would be hired to play the part of a dead guys girlfriend to please their family. It literally was a role of a lifetime and she went above and beyond in this role. This book had twists and turns at every corner. Some you didn’t see coming in fact.

One thing I loved about this book was it was a brand new fresh idea. It was totally out of the box thinking. Nobody has ever thought of this concept before. Some parts will touch your heart, some will make you laugh out loud, some will tear you up inside with hurt, some parts will make you smile, and some will have you on the edge of your seat.

Review: Discovery In The Woods by Sandy Barton

Sandy Barton discussing her book

Discover In The Woods
By Sandy Barton
Review by HeidiLynns BookReviews

First, I want to thank Sandy Barton for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Sandy Barton wrote an extremely cute book called Discovery in the Woods. This book is the first book in a series of four books. This book is unique and creative in the fact that a little boy discovers a little Leprechaun in the woods. During the book they form an extremely strong friendship.

I love how the book was dedicated to her 5th grade students whom heard the story and choose to believe.

I have reviewed children’s books In the past. However, she did something no other author I have come across has done. She gave tips on what to do before reading the book. For example: find a comfy place to read and get all comfy (that is very important), Look at the cover and gather all the information of the book that you can before starting. She also gives you tips while you read it like switch up the voices of the characters in your head, turn the words into pictures in your mind, etc. When you finish the book go tell someone about it. However, don’t spoil the ending for them.

I loved how Sophie found a Leprechaun in the woods two weeks till St. Patrick’s Day. Boy was he a feisty little man!! He went by CW McAllister.

One of my fave lines was “Well, I ain’t one of those talking mushrooms, am I.”

I laughed every time Mr. McAllister called Sandy Big One seeing Mr. McAllister was small.

I loved how Mr. McAllister was going to spend St. Patrick’s Day at Sandy’s school. In return Sandy was going to spend the evening having dinner with 152 of their community members. That was good compromise.

Sandy Barton the author is a retired elementary school teacher at Forest Elementary School Teacher in Buffalo, NY. She loved telling her students about the Leprechaun’s in her woods.

Love's Trial
By Melissa Storm
Review By HeidiLynn's Book Review

First, I want to thank USA’s Best Selling Author Melissa Storm for Providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Melissa Storm is back with her newest book in the First Street Church Romance Book Series. Love’s Trial is the fifth book n the series and I think the most powerful she has ever written. I have been a huge fan of hers and this series from book one. This book she poured her heart and soul into these storylines. You could tell she was incredibly passionate about each of the characters and it showed. So much so there were times when I wanted to go into the story and hug the characters.

I loved that we got reunited with past characters and got updates on them. Although, I was really shocked by Summer and her outburst!!

This book dealt with a lot of life issues can be related to a lot of readers out there. Some were more painful than others to read about. I was a little like Sally in a way not thinking I was good enough for the guy. I was the insecure one.

I really loved the bond that Sally and Tobias formed even though they both had issues they were dealing with. However, they grew together.

My absolute favorite part of the book hands down was the AMAZING surprise that Tobias gave to Sally!!! Dam if some guy ever did that for me I would be in heaven!!!!!

In the acknowledgements I love how she says that every book is a new labor of love, and that Love’s Trial was no exception.

This book is dedicated to Melissa Storm’s best writing buddy. She was the partial inspiration for Sally’s character. What she wrote about her best writing buddy will make you smile ear to ear. Those two make a great team.

I love how she mentions her husband Falcon, her daughter Phoenix, her lifesaver Angie, and Jasmine.

Her One Mistake
By Heidi Perks
Review by HeidiLynn's Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Heidi Perks, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Heidi Perks just became my favorite Psychological Thriller Author after reading Her One Mistake!! Heidi brings you into the story, introduces you to the characters, makes you think what is going on, then the ball is totally dropped on the reader!! Be prepared to have your jaw drop and the story to be switched. You think you know how the story will end-but you have no clue!!

I was very impressed with Heidi with how she developed the characters into the storyline. How we didn’t learn all their secrets all at once. Once we found out their true colors I was shocked! She is truly a gifted writer/storyteller who was passionate about this story. She definitely knows how to hook her readers into the story and not let go until the book is done.

The story was told in different perspectives from three different characters. Heidi also wrote in before the abduction and modern day. These two made the story very interesting.

Kudos to the graphic artist who did the cover of the book. I thought it was spot on to the theme of the book. Not to mention I really liked it.

There is one life lesson to take away from this book though. If you have kids and are out in public watch them and not your phone! Someone could snatch them while you are looking. Another thing is that Facebook and Social Media can be so cruel in situations like this. Talking bad about the person when you don’t know the truth or their side of the story. There are two sides to every story.

My heart broke for Harriet on so many occasions in this book. If anyone in this book needed a hug it would be her!! She was a strong woman through all of this!

Out of all the characters in this book Brian was the one I loathed the most. In the beginning of the book something was off about him. At the end of the book I was not a fan of all. Too many reasons why. You will have to read the book to find out why!

I loved how in the acknowledgements how she thanked her Mum. How ever since she was eight she told her she can write and she has never stopped supporting her since.

A Shot in the Woods
by Susan Solomon
Review by HeidiLynns BookReviews

First, I would like to thank Susan Solomon for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Thanks to Susan Solomon and her new book A Shot in The Woods I am craving turkey big time now. Just in time this comical book based around a woman “mistakenly” getting shot as a turkey by a hunter right around Thanksgiving time. It was great to see Susan’s personality shine through in this book as I was cracking up to many of the scenes.

This book had a little bit of everything. Even though it was Thanksgiving themed, she did have some witchcraft, mention of tarot cards, some mystery/suspense, some investigation into if the woman was really killed or if it was an accident, some wedding planning in the mix, Thanksgiving prep not going so hot, investigation.

One thing I love about Susan’s books is her destinations are all based here in WNY. Being born and raised in WNY I can appreciate this aspect in the book. I smiled when I read about my favorite grocery store Wegmans. One of the best Italian Bakeries in Niagara Falls she mentioned is De Camillo’s. However, I go there for their amazing homemade Broccoli Cheese Pizza. She mentioned the I-390 and Rochester, NY (I used to live there). Susan also used the popular local newspaper in Niagara Falls the Niagara Gazette when mentioning reading the story about the woman getting killed by the hunter.

This was a short quick read packed with excitement from start to finish. It will keep you on your toes from start to finish. This was one of my favorite books by Susan that I have read.

Just Shut Up ad Drive
by Chynna Laird
Review by HeidiLynn's BookReviews

First, I want to thank Chynna Laird for providing me with this signed copy of this book so I may bring you this review.

Just Shut Up and Drive was the perfect title for this book by Chynna Laird. I can just hear Gramps saying this to Wil as they embarked on an amazing journey into Gramps past.  This is one book that will make you want to call up your Grampa and chat or get together with him. It is one of the sweetest, touching, emotional, heart wrenching at times books with a bit of faith and lots of life lessons thrown in.

Gramps was taking his Grandson Wil on a road trip however what it really was a journey into his Gramps past. Oh, what a journey he took him on! The unique people he met that were tied to his late parents and his Gram. Each one touched his heart, remembered his Gramps from back in the day, and even remembered Wil’s late father.

My heart broke for Wil as he lost both of his parents to a drunk driver at a very early age. I too can relate as I lost my Uncle to a drunk driver. You never get over that pain-and neither did Wil. However, he never was able to let his parents go. It was this trip that he found out the truth and was able to finally put closure on it.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between Gramps and Wil! Their witty humor back and forth cracked me up big time!! I never got to know my Grandfathers as they passed before I was born. So, I envied their relationship in the book. Those two made a great team.

Chynna is an incredible story teller! Within this book are so many stories within the story. So many that any of them could be turned into a spin off book. For example me personally would love a spin off book of one of my favorite characters Dakota and her Mom whom is suffering from cancer. That is one very special and unique story in the book. One of my favorite stories actually. Quite funny at times. She was a little sweetheart too.

I loved how the setting was in Canada as I have a soft spot for the area being from the states.
This is one road trip Wil left a boy and came back a man.

Review: Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Kathryn R. Biel

Author Kathryn R. Biel

Telling stories of resilient women, Kathryn R. Biel hails from Upstate New York where her most important role is being mom and wife to an incredibly understanding family who don't mind fetching coffee and living in a dusty house. In addition to being Chief Home Officer and Director of Child Development of the Biel household, she works as a school-based physical therapist. She attended Boston University and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The Sage Colleges. After years of writing countless letters of medical necessity for wheelchairs, finding increasingly creative ways to encourage insurance companies to fund her client's needs, and writing entertaining annual Christmas letters, she decided to take a shot at writing the kind of novel that she likes to read. Kathryn is the author of ten women's fiction, romantic comedy, contemporary romance, and chick lit works, including Live for This and Made for Me.

First, I want to thank Kathryn R. Biel for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

When I first read the title for Kathryn R. Biel’s new book Paradise by the Dashboard Light I automatically thought of the song. Which is one of my favorites by Meatloaf. Immediately, she had me smiling at that fact. But as the book progressed she did have some very comical moments in the book. I found myself laughing out loud a few times.  Especially at the fertilized egg comment!

This was such a fresh and unique storyline that I really enjoyed. Two sets of fraternal twins, born on the same day, same time, same hospital. All four twins were friends and had a bond. Each had a sibling that each had an issue with.

Even held a special place in my heart in the story. He was born premature (as was my niece) and was not thriving as well. Ian his brother became a Neonatal Dr. to help save babies. Mostly, because he thought it was his fault his brother was born that way.

I loved the unique names in this book Rio and Rainne.

The sexual tension between Rio and Ian was off the charts and I loved it!!

Review: Reason to Believe A Reason to Love Series: Book Two

Summary of Book
Held hostage by her past and a sense that she is unworthy of love, can Olivia be saved?
Olivia Montgomery has learned in life that most people are self-serving and only have their own interests at heart. After a broken marriage and an unplanned pregnancy takes her to the one place she never wanted to go again, Olivia must fight for her freedom and independence.
In a moment of life or death she meets Tyler, a man who seeks to honor God in all his actions. His love is not like anything Olivia has ever known. It's foreign and yet the most powerful love she has ever experienced. It has the power to heal, to forgive, and it never gives up on her. Little does she know that there is One who can love her more than Tyler.
A heart-warming Christian romance that illustrates how God works out our hardships for His glory, continuously showering us with love.

Author T.K. Chapin

First, I want to thank TK Chapin for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

A Reason to Believe A Reason to Love Series: Book Two by T.K. Chapin has Best Selling status screaming all over it!! I am a huge fan of T.K. Chapin’s work for a few years now. I have read many of his books. Each book he writes his writing, his storytelling, the emotions he draws from the characters, the messages he tries to portray to his readers, and his overall love of faith and God gets-better-and-better. Reason to Believe is the best novel in my genuine opinion that he has ever written.

I do want to warn readers of events In the book that may trigger some. Infidelity on a spouse for 5 years and being confronted by the girlfriend, alcoholism and substance abuse to numb the pain of an injury, being kept from your daughter until you get clean and sober. There is also talk about ending your life and wanting to die when the character hit rock bottom.
The beginning of this book blew me out of the water big time. If you have ever read for T.K. you know this was far from his style of writing the first few pages. I literally was saying to myself oh no he didn’t just go there. How would you like it if your husband’s girlfriend Lisa of 5 years came over and introduced herself?!  Yup, that happens in this book! Oh that is just the beginning too!  I felt like I was watching something on Lifetime Channel unfold. BTW huge fan of those movies too! But WOW this begging of the book sure hooked me. I know for a fact it will hook other readers too.

This book will really make you sit down and really think about your life as a whole. As a reader I could identify with the chronic pain issue that Olivia was dealing with. I could understand the emotions she was going through and the acupuncture she tried. Never did I go down the poor road she did fortunately. But, I could empathize with her that it is lonely and you want to shut out the world when you are in this pain. I am glad that she had Tyler in her life to help her out.

Side note- If you are in chronic pain from whatever the reason is just know -you are NOT alone There are doctors who can help you. You don’t need to turn to alcohol or drugs.

Speaking of Tyler he literally was a gift from God in more ways than one! He saved Olivia’s life in more ways than one too. Out of all the couples that TK has matched made these two were my favorite. He saw someone special In her. He knew she was not perfect even though she was against the idea of God. However, he wasn’t really looking for perfection. Just someone perfect for him. That someone was Olivia. Even though she was broken he never gave up hope. He truly had a huge heart of gold! Tyler would be someone I would be proud to date.

There are so many stories within the main story of this book.

Overall, I absolutely loved this book! I was so happy to see Serenah and Charlie back again from Diamond Lake. I loved the fact that it was a longer book and the beginning and near the end was really strong. There was a lot of action and great scenes. However, I felt myself wondering at the end will they or wont they finally get together? Then I questioned why did the book end like this? Will the next book pick up where it left off with this couple?
