I take a deep breath before I utter the words I’m terrified to speak out loud. My therapist waits, but nothing could prepare her for what I say next. ‘I think I killed my best friend…’

Three years ago, Alice and I went away for a fun weekend with our big group of friends. But at the end of the trip, police cars flooded the house where we were staying. Alice had been found. Dead. And no one knew what happened to her.

I’ve tried to remember the lost hours before her death, but only snapshots appear in my mind – Alice’s silk scarf, given to her by a secret boyfriend, the silly argument we had when she refused to tell me, and her relationship with Tom, the man who would later become my own husband…

Now, as I talk to my therapist, my heart pounds in my chest. Because I’ve had a breakthrough. And I start to remember that I was there when Alice took her last breath. I was standing over her… could I be her killer?

As my therapist begins to question all our friends, one thing becomes clear – we all have a different version of events. I’m certain someone close to me is keeping a deadly secret. How can I believe anyone around me, when I can’t even trust myself?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller, perfect for fans of The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage and The Silent Patient. Prepare to stay up all night to find out what really happened to Alice!

The Guilty Patient

Written By Luana Lewis

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Review

First, I want to thank Luana Lewis, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing this book so I can bring you this review.

Luana Lewis brings us readers a different kind of psychological thriller that I am used to in her latest The Guilty Patient. Where one of the main characters point blank confesses killing someone hiding nothing.

I loved how Luana made her prologue stand out with vivid descriptive details of the events that had been seen. This hooked me into the story wanting to know what happened to the poor girl.

What I found interesting is Mia confessed to killing her only friend and best friend Alice but WHY?!!! When readers find out why it’s a shocker!!!!

Through the story we learn a little more about Mia’s past

It’s her first trip away. But she never came home…

The old camping bus pulls up outside my house in the middle of the night. Rain is pounding against the windows, thunder rattling, but I’d recognize the sound of the engine anywhere.

Confusion races through me. My daughter
Willow and her best friend must be back early from their trip. I jump up and rush to meet them.

But when I pull open the door, it’s not Willow on the doorstep. It’s a man, holding her keys. Blood roars in my ears as he explains he was hired anonymously to drive it back.

My heart is pounding. I don’t understand.
Where is my daughter?

I push past him and run out into the rain, wrenching the door of the bus open. It’s empty. The girls are gone.

And in the back, there are signs of a struggle. Clumps of Willow’s hair on the floor. Their belongings trashed. I stop breathing.

Where are they? What’s happened to my daughter? And churning in my stomach is the most terrifying question of all: What will it take to get her back?

A jaw-dropping, unputdownable psychological thriller packed with twists that will leave you breathless. Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena, Lisa Jewell and Lucy Clarke’s One of the Girls.

My Missing Daughter
Written By Ellery Kane
Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Review

First, I want to thank Ellery Kane, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Ellery Kane your latest My Missing Daughter is your best written book to date-and I have been a fan for years! Your storyline was brilliantly crafted creatively outside of the box and I totally loved that! This book reads like one of those true crime documentaries like you see on Netflix. I am going to go one step further and say that out of the 102 books I have read this year this book is in my top 5.

Ellery made me very happy seeing that she placed most of her book in Niagara Falls, NY and mentioned Buffalo, NY multiple times. I live in Buffalo, NY and rarely do I see non local authors place their characters in my hometown. Thank you for that!

Clear your schedule for the day because once you start reading you will not want to stop! This is an addicting fast paced read that you will need to know what ever happened to Willow!!

I loved how this book was about two best friends who wrote a book together about a trip and then set out on that trip together. However, one best friend doesn’t come back. This is a missing person case that is so unreal that it could be ripped from the headlines. I loved how Ellery brings the social media instagram aspect into the storyline and we get to see the banter back and forth between the characters. There were a lot of twists, turns, secrets, shocking revelations, and even a taboo storyline.

When I read who Ellery drew her inspiration from, the book made perfect sense. I love how she put her own special twist on it though.

This is a definite must read put this at the top of your TBR pile!

Our whole neighborhood is desperately searching for sixteen-year-old Shelby: my own daughter’s best friend. But I know my daughter is lying about the night Shelby disappeared. And a mother will do anything to protect her child…

Hickory Hills is the perfect place to raise a family. Everyone knows everyone. Sometimes, that’s a bad thing.

The morning after the Halloween party, the word spreads from house to house, each resident gasping at the news, each mother holding their child tighter.
Shelby has gone missing.

My daughter should be distraught, but she’s claiming they weren’t even friends anymore. When I go to talk to her, I hear her giggling on the phone with Shelby’s boyfriend.

And then I find her Halloween costume, stuffed into a bag in her closet, covered in blood.

I will do anything to protect my daughter. I will turn this community upside down. I will blame someone else’s child if I have to.

After all, I have secrets of my own…

A totally gripping psychological suspense about the dark secrets that lie behind perfect families, and how far mothers will go for their children. If you love Claire Douglas, Ruth Ware or Karin Slaughter, Loving Mothers will have you glued to the pages till the final jaw-dropping twist.

Miranda Smith writes psychological and domestic suspense. She is drawn to stories about ordinary people in extraordinary situations. Before completing her first novel, she worked as a newspaper staff writer and a secondary English teacher. She lives in East Tennessee with her husband and three young children.

Loving Mothers
Written By Miranda Smith
Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Miranda Smith, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Miranda Smith always comes up with incredible fast paced gripping psychological thrillers that have you hanging on to her every word til the end of the book. In her latest psychological thriller Loving Mothers she once again does that and then some. For me I binge read it as I could not put it down. It was so good. I love when books do that for me.

Miranda wants to dedicate to anyone who thinks they deserved it-you didn’t.

Instantly, Miranda put a smile on my face as the book was set on Halloween night and she was describing the scene of each character and what they were wearing and acting. I felt like a fly buzzing over everything going on just watching as she described it.

Oh I totally agree with Mary! I am not a morning person so you better not call me before 9am even if I am up sooner than that lol!

If you know by reading my past reviews I am a huge fan of missing person cases. So, of course my favorite storyline in this book was what happened to Shelby? There were so many twists and turns on what could have happened to her.

WOWZERS!!!! Miranda you totally threw me for a loop with one of the confessions in the book!! Never ever did I see that coming. Talk about jaw dropping confession well there you go!!

For some reason this book reminded of the community on Desperate Housewives and tad bit like the neighbors in an odd way.

Miranda packed this book with major drama, massive twists and turns, and multiple mind blowing moments that will leave you speechless! A reason why you need to run out and grab your copy today!

EXCERPT:

“This is bad. This is bad. This is really, really bad,” she chanted to herself, freaking out as she shook her hands and glanced around my room as if she’d just found herself in a dungeon. “He couldn’t see me. Why couldn’t he see me?” Focusing on me, she demanded. “Can you still see me?”

“Yes.” I nodded. “I can see you. And hear you.”

“Well, what does that mean?” she cried.

“I…” I lifted my hands to look at this objectively. “I’m not completely sure. But I’m guessing that either you’re a figment of my imagination, and I’m hallucinating right now, or—”

When I paused at the second option, she stepped closer. “Or what?”

“Or…” I blew out a breath and couldn’t believe I was going to even suggest this before I just blurted, “Maybe you’re a ghost.”

“A ghost?” She blinked at me once, then blurted out a laugh before stopping abruptly to scowl. “No. No!” Shaking her head, she began to pace the room. “I don’t like that option. Being a ghost would mean I’m dead. And I’m not dead.”

“Are you sure?” I asked hesitantly.

Halting abruptly, she swerved around to send me a harsh scowl. “I think I would know if I was dead!”

“You’d think you’d know your own name, too,” I countered with a cringe.

She gasped, insulted, and then narrowed her eyes. “Okay. Alright. Fair point. But if I was dead, could I do this?”

Spotting my wallet and keys sitting on top of my dresser, she tried to sweep them off with a swing of her hand.

Except she missed.

“What the hell?” Blinking in confusion, she tried again, but her hand went straight through the items.

Easing forward, I pointed out a single finger and nudged the keys, making them scrape across the top of the dresser.

“Oh, dear God,” she breathed, turning to send me a horrified grimace. “Am I dead?”

“I don’t know,” I told her honestly. “But I’ve never been able to see ghosts before, and I’m positive I’ve been in the presence of a few.”

“Then I’m not dead,” she answered astutely and tried to grab my arm to prove it, only to cause a cool, misting sensation to coat my flesh when her fingers went right through me. “Ugh!”

I glanced down at the spot she’d tried to touch and then back up again. “I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re not exactly alive either.”
