Call the Magic Man and he appears. Tell anyone about him and he disappears.

It started as a whisper, a story bored kids in this small town told on the playground to spook each other. Then they began drawing pictures of the Magic Man on their walls at night – each one of them startlingly similar. It was all a harmless myth until the first body was found…

Trudie knows she and her little boy, Dexter, are safe here, away from her ex and far from her troubles with a colleague at the hospital where she works. But it doesn’t stop her double-locking her doors at night. You can never be too careful.

Then Dexter starts playing up – stealing food, getting into trouble at school and drawing on the freshly painted walls of his bedroom. His explanation shakes Trudie to her core: the Magic Man told me to.

Tucking him into bed at night, Trudie prays that it’s just a phase, that he’s acting out to make friends. But just days later, her worst nightmare comes true – Dexter is missing…

Fans of Rachel Abbott, Angela Marsons and Karin Slaughter will be totally gripped by this jaw-dropping and completely spine-tingling crime thriller from bestselling author Carla Kovach.

Carla has been writing seriously since her mid-thirties. She started by writing stage plays which led to her producing and directing her own full length piece of theatre. After that, she decided to write films and books where she began by self-publishing. In the past, she has acted in a few indie films and has also co-owned a photography and video production company.

Right now, she is a full time crime and thriller author living in Worcester with her husband, Nigel and Poppy the cat.

Ivy snaked over the remains of the ancient building; growing up everything it could possibly cling to. Everything except the freshly dug grave and the woman’s partially covered face, her gold locket glinting in the sun…

When hikers discover the remains of a young woman at an abandoned asylum in the heart of the Lake District, Detective Morgan Brookes is first to the scene. Hidden from view, amongst moss and dark green ivy, a woman has been partially buried. But it’s not the knife in her chest that shocks Morgan to her core; the girl’s tied legs bring back memories of someone from her own gruesome past – her brother Dan.

Dan is in prison for murder, and Morgan is quick to convince herself that the rope that reminds her of him is just a coincidence. And when her boss identifies the body of the victim as seventeen-year-old Samira Silva, Morgan throws everything at the case, desperate to find justice for a fellow foster child. With the team hunting through Samira’s old case files, and the kidnap of another girl causing chaos at the station, she has no time to spare.

Until she unearths a chilling connection between Dan and Samira. And she’s forced to face him, stepping foot through the doors of his prison for the first time in her life.

Morgan thought she put her own dark past behind her years ago, but has she instead put the lives of others in danger? And is it already too late to face Dan, and stop him for good?

A gripping crime thriller from million-copy bestseller Helen Phifer. Fans of Karin Slaughter, Val McDermid and Robert Dugoni will devour the non-stop twists.

The Other Daughter

Written By Heidi Field

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Review

First, I want to thank Heidi Field, Yellow Books and Zooloo Book Tours for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Fans of Heidi Field’s series The Peasdale Woods Killer you are in for a real treat because guess what?! She is back with her fourth book The Other Daughter and OMG each book keeps continuing to blow my mind. It is just as dark, twisted, mysterious, detailed, and addicting as the prior books were.

I will be blunt there were only two psychological thrillers authors this year that totally captivated my attention fully, one being Heidi Field and Rhiannon Barnsley. Whenever I am asked to recommend a new psychological thriller author or new book Heidi is the first one I think of. Just thinking back to her first novel in the series she has grown so much as a writer.

The one thing I found different in this book than past books is she didn’t have a prologue. She skipped that part and jumped right into the storyline.

Lee Hyat did a great job on Heidi’s cover for The Other Daughter. It was so different and unique compared to the other covers she had in the past.

The Other Daughter as I stated is the 4th book in the series and I highly suggest it be read in order. Yes, Heidi does a mini recap and updates us of where the characters are now. However, I feel strongly that these books should not be read as a standalone. I think someone would be totally lost without the backstory of all the characters. That decision is up to you but that is my advice.

There were some jaw dropping updates on one character specifically that left me speechless!!! I was thankful for the outcome but I didn't see that coming at all.

This book we learn all about Hunter who was Gunner’s Brother and Jeanie who is Hunter’s daughter. I would have been in total shock just like Shiv was when he showed up unannounced claiming to be family!!

Seriously when you learn the dark twisted childhood Gunner had you realize why he might have been the man he was in stories we read about him. It just makes perfect sense but it doesn’t justify it.

There is so much I want to share but I don't want to give anything away! All I will say is this is a must read book!! 5 stars!! Like I have been saying from book one this needs to be a Netflix series!! I would totally binge read it!!

The Last Time I Saw Her
Written By Rhiannon Barnsley

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Rhiannon Barnsley, Inkubator Books and Zooloo Book Tours for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Rhiannon Barnsley deserves more than 5 stars for her latest psychological thriller The Last Time I Saw Her!! She literally had me glued to the edge of my seat from the second sentence of her prologue! The Last Time I Saw Her is a completely different written storyline that is out there today. It is a total breath of fresh air and an addictive storyline. Oh how I wish I had a contact at Netflix as this would make a great binge worthy series!

May I just add that this is the first time that I am hearing/reading this author. Needless to say she has made a huge impact on me on just this book alone! If any of her other books are as good as this one then she has a new fan!!

Just the prologue alone about dreams and nightmares fascinated and intrigued me greatly as Rhiannon lets us glimpse into Sage’s dreams. Oh but these aren’t dreams, they are detailed intense nightmares of a woman drowning. This was an intense hook to the story that I grabbed onto.

Imagine riding the bus and seeing that same person from your dream alive?

What is Sage’s connection to Lara?

If you love social media influencers and enjoy following them then you will love Lara’s character. She shows you the good, bad and ugly about what it's like to be in their shoes.

You must read Last Time I Saw Her! It is incredible!!
