How to Nail a Stud
Katharine Sadler

Publication date: April 16th 2021

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Shel is tired of dating men who don’t appreciate her rock and roll wardrobe or her tomboy tendencies. She’s swearing off dating, and she is not going to give another moment’s thought to the hot single dad next door. She is not going to waste a single moment dwelling on his muscles or his eyes or the way he plays with his adorable six-year-old daughter.

Max has made mistakes, he’s been a terrible father, and he has no problem spending the rest of his life atoning by being the best, most devoted parent he can possibly be. A devoted father does not have wicked thoughts about his sexy neighbor, and he most certainly does not consider an actual relationship.

Except, he can’t stop thinking about Shel, and he’s not sure what to do about it.

Q. What inspired you to write How to Nail a Stud?

A. How to Nail a Stud is the second book in my Vegas Billionaires series (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08L5RKBTS), so I knew I wanted the book to be set in Las Vegas and involve a billionaire. Originally, though, I’d planned for How to Nail a Stud to be about Isla Cassidy, the sister of the male main character in the first book in the series. Instead, another character in that book, Max Mason, demanded to tell his story

Max is a single dad who abandoned his infant daughter to the care of his mother and sister four years before book one takes place. He had his reasons, one of them being that he’d been arrested not long after she was born, but he’d stayed away a couple years after he got out of jail, long past the time he should have been back in her life. He’d also betrayed people who trusted him and taken advantage of his family. In the first book in the series, he’s an irredeemable jerk.

I wanted to find out if I could redeem him, so I wrote How to Nail a Stud. In this book, he’s been raising his now six-year-olddaughter for two years and he’s a construction foreman. He’s worked hardhe’s a devoted father, and he’s avoided getting romantically involved with anyone. gave him a tough, big-hearted love interest in musician Shel Tinsdale. Not only that, but I threw in some problems that will force him to make personal sacrifices for his daughter and for Shel. I gave him plenty of chances to return to being a jerk, because I wanted to test him. You’ll have to let me know if I succeeded in redeeming him.

Max’s love interest Shel Tinsdale is a musician, who performs with her band on the weekends and teaches music to kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford lessons. She’s incredibly talented but has no desire to be famous or go on tour. She’s probably the kindest, most giving person I’ve written, but she has her goofy side, mostly brought out by her St. Bernard rescue dog.

Max needed a partner with a big heart to test him and I loved the idea of Shel having a rock and roll lifestyle. I love music and it was so much fun to write about a musician.
