In the vein of Mindy Kaling, Ali Wong, and Amy Poehler, a collection of hilarious personal essays, poems and even amusement park maps on the subjects of insecurity, fame, anxiety, and much more from the charming and wickedly funny creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Rachel Bloom has felt abnormal and out of place her whole life. In this exploration of what she thinks makes her "different," she's come to realize that a lot of people also feel this way; even people who she otherwise thought were "normal."
In a collection of laugh-out-loud funny essays, all told in the unique voice (sometimes singing voice) that made her a star; Rachel writes about everything from her love of Disney, OCD and depression, weirdness, and female friendships to the story of how she didn't poop in the toilet until she was four years old; Rachel's pieces are hilarious, smart, and infinitely relatable (except for the pooping thing).
In 2019, Rachel sold out Radio City Music Hall performing CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND: LIVE as well as at The London Palladium, the latter of which earned her a five-star review from The Guardian. She also starred in her own solo tour, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE NOW? in the Fall of 2019, which included a week-long residency at JUST FOR LAUGHS.
Rachel was featured in TROLLS WORLD TOUR as the hard rock troll “Barb,” opposite Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. Her other feature voiceover credits include the role of “Silver” in ANGRY BIRDS 2 opposite Jason Sudeikis for Columbia Pictures, “Batgirl” in BATMAN VS. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES for Warner Brothers Animation and the upcoming EXTINCT opposite Adam Devine and Ken Jeong.
She previously starred in the SXSW comedy, MOST LIKELY TO MURDER. Notable tv guest star credits include PORTLANDIA, THE SIMPSONS, BOJACK HORSEMAN, RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE and THE TONY AWARDS.
Bloom has been prominently featured in The New York Times Magazine, Elle, Allure, Entertainment Weekly, Time, Psychology Today and Backstage, among others.
She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, daughter and dog daughter.

First, I want to thank Rachel Bloom and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
WOW!!! WOW!! WOW!! Rachel Bloom bares it all in her totally real, emotionally raw, a breath of fresh air and O.M.G she went there moments in I Want To Be Where The Normal People Are. Rachel’s beautifully written book will make you smile, laugh out loud, and at times make you cringe.
Now, if you are like me and not familiar with who Rachel Bloom is, she will give you a very in-depth crash course of the real Rachel Bloom!
I found this book to be very relatable and connected with Rachel on many different levels. I feel that other readers of all ages will have that same connection as well.
Rachel brought up some very important issues and how they impacted her life.
In this book you will find poems, personal diary entries, pictures, and interview questions.
I could not stop laughing at all the bathroom stories!! I kept thinking O.M.G she actually went there!!!
After reading the section about her show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend I just had to look it up on Netflix! Why had nobody told me about this show?! It is genius!!!! You can bet I will be binge watching that for sure!!
This book would be perfect for a book club as there are so many topics to choose from to discuss. Rachel includes a guide in the back for just that occasion.
