Description:
You can always trust your closest friends. Can’t you?
This trip was a chance to reconnect away from our busy lives. The five of us used to be so close—going right back to our college days, when we shared a rickety house and all our favorite clothes, as well as every high and low of our lives—but that was then.
Now, the thought of three days in a small cabin far from anywhere, surrounded only by water and trees, with my four oldest friends makes my stomach sink and my hands sweat. Because if they knew what I’d done—the betrayals I’ve committed—they’d never forgive me. And neither would you.
The straight-A student, the sports star with a bright future ahead of her, the sheltered girl who blossomed away from her family and the hippie child who was going to save the world. Their lives have turned out so differently to how we pictured all those years ago. I try not to think about why.
But then danger strikes, and too late I discover I’m not the only one keeping secrets. And I wonder: who will go furthest to keep the truth hidden?
Gripping, addictive and totally unputdownable, The Lake House will have you reading late into the night. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, The Woman in the Window and Big Little Lies.

Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews
First, I want to thank Laura Wolfe, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
WOW!! Just Wow!! Laura Wolfe creates an incredibly twisted, mind blowing, jaw dropping, gripping storyline in The Lake House. This is one book you must put on your TBR list and clear your schedule to read it. Once you pick up the book you just can’t put it down.
Laura Wolfe’s book focused on friendship between the girls in the past and present. She would jump back and forth so we would get a better understanding of them and their friendship. Their past gave so much insite to what was going on into their lives today that they didn't see happening.
The mystery aspect of what happened to the girls was one of the highlights of the book. What made this case different than any other was they were in the middle of nowhere with no phone service, no internet and with flat tires they couldn’t go anywhere.
Laura did a phenomenal job pulling out all the fears and emotions the characters were having during this crisis! She made me feel empathy for them and compassion for what they go through.
This book had so many mysteries, lies, secrets, betrayals, hidden agendas, murder, revelations, realizations, twists and turns, shocking moments you dont see coming, grudges heald, intensely written scenes, a very climatic twist of events, etc.
I am a huge fan of board games so I loved it when they pulled out some of my favorite board games to play. I wanted to hop in and play Uno and Scattergories with them.
It was so spooky that the camp for kids was deserted with no life.
The climatic twist came out of the blue! I honestly never saw those revelations coming and at that fast of speed either. My jaw was locked open. I was so shocked at the turn of events. Never did I imagine that ending.

Oh I'm so curious! I do love a good mystery and one where they can't use phones or internet always ups the stakes!
