 The Super Twins

Andy Slinger

The novel begins when Ryan and Jake, identical twins aged 13 are being transported to their Dad’s house by their Grandmother after the death of their mother. Understandably they are grief stricken as their world has been turned upside-down. To compound matters in a freak accident a Meteorite lands in their garden destroying part of the house in the process. Jake wakes up in hospital after a few weeks later to find out he nearly died, and their house is still under investigationDad arrives at hospital with three police officers who sneak them out and to their new temporary accommodation.

The twinsoon discover that the accident has given them special powers. Ryan (the intelligent twin) has developed super intelligence and telekinesis whilst Jake (the sporty twin)gains super strength and speedThey decide to keep their identities secret and use their powers for good. They build a lair, weapons, gadgets, costumes and name themselves the Super Twins.

Meanwhile there has been a huge crime spree in the sleepy town of Trincaster, which has gotout of control and the police can’t handle it. The boys connect this to the meteor landing and go to spy on Dad’s cordoned off house from a distance. They decide to try and extract information from a patrolling guard but instead of capturing him for questioning Jake doesn’t realise his own strength and knocks him out. They search the guard, find a piece of meteor in his pocket and a suspicious spiral tattoo on his neck.

The crime wave escalates when a bomb is detonated at school, the boys spot the culprit, a large hooded figure but miss capturing him by a hair’s breadth. We are introduced to Jimmy, the twin’s best friend and closest ally.

After planning out how they are going to catch the culprits to thcrime wave they spot the three police officers from the hospital in very different attire. They are sporting leather jackets complete with spiral emblem painted on the backacting very suspiciously. The Super Twins give chase, but the officers vanish without a traceThey have lost their only leads to the crimes in the process until Ryan makes a connection between the fake Police officers and their Dad.

They head straight to their Dad’s shed to search it for clues, finding secret lair in the process. They rummage around for more evidence but are captured by the mystery hooded figure, who is revealed to be Evil Dad, an alter ego of their Dad. After a short fight the Super Twins are captured, drugged and left to rot in a jail cell. When they eventually regain consciousness, Ryan concocts a plan and they escape aided by Jimmy.

They discover that Trincaster has become a warzone in their absence, with Evil Dad leading an army of hypnotised locals’ intent on destroying anything and everything in their path. The only thing stopping them is an aged superhero called Vortex and his gang of rebel’s fightershowever they are at breaking point and ready to give-in at any moment.

Jimmy (now nicknamed Gold Shield) arranges a meeting between the Super Twins and Vortex as a last attempt to save the town from certain doom. The Super Twins take control of the situation, talk Vortex out of retreating and begin a plan to take down Evil Dad. Evil Dad has other plans though and hacks into their systems issuing them an ultimatum to attend a final battle in Wheatsheaf field.

The battle rages on for hours with the dark forces even more powerful than expected. Vortexfights bravely but is killed in action and the boys seek to avenge his death. The battle comes to a head when the Super Twins eventually come face to face with the Evil Dad. They fight hard and are on the verge of being destroyed when they use their combined twin power (The Super Seismic Shockwave) to crush their enemy. Ryan can’t follow it and kill his Dad though, instead of destroying him he opts to spare his life and send him to jail instead

Evil Dad is taken to a high security militarcompound, but all is not as it seems. As he is released from the back of the van it becomes clear he knows the guards and is in fact controlling them with his mind. He is far from finished; the Super Twins should have destroyed him while they had the chance.

Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Andy Slinger and Illustrator Kate for this book so I may bring you this review.

The Super Twins is a perfect read for that special little man in your life!! Andy Slinger will have them cracking up laughing at the things the twins say and do. Plus, they will love the adventures they get to go on.

Andy would love to dedicate this book to his real-life super twins Luke and Liam who have inspired him everyday to finish this book.

Kudos to Kate the illustrator for the cool cover! It was spot on to the story too!

Right off the bat my heart ached for the twins who had lost their Mom tragically. Luckily they both had each other.

Parts of this book I could not stop laughing!! I am a huge fan of veggies but can understand why kids don’t. However, what they did to the poor broccoli I just was shocked but laughing! Now the Brussel Sprouts was a different story lol! Or the Chocolate Factory Exploding and drinking chocolate out of the pipes! Where does Andy come up with this stuff! Then the remark from the twins that he ran out of the house probably to run one of his lame marathons lol!

You can tell how passionate he is about his twins in the book as he probably is in real life.

The story took a very unique turn and went sci-fi on its readers! It was a very interesting story with the media involved.

Unfortunately, the copy that I received had a lot of spacing issues between words. It made it difficult to read some of the time.

Kate’s drawings were so cute.
