A Mother’s Last Wish
Written by Jo Bartlett
Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Jo Bartlett, Boldwood Books, NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

WOW!!!! Jo Bartlett’s A Mother’s Last Wish was an incredibly emotionally difficult book to read as I just lost my father in December. There were many many parts of the book where I found myself ugly crying (you will need tissues for this book). Jo wrote a very beautiful story with many insightful messages that went outside the box in creative writing.

Jo dedicates this book to the two she couldn’t bear to leave Anna and Harry.

In a Mother’s Last Wish Jo Bartlett educates her reader’s about Pancreatic Cancer that Louisa is diagnosed with and Breast Cancer that her twin sister Holly has.

My heart went out to Lousia who just got diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and has two adorable young children. This is when my heart broke in a million pieces. I was blessed to have my Dad for 48 years..but these characters in the book wouldn’t have their Mom for that long. She wouldn’t get to see their big milestones and that tore me up. I was blessed to have that. I didn’t realize that til I read Jo’s book.

My favorite part of the book was when they had Disney Movie night with Pizza and munchies and the characters Lilo and Stitch came for the kids! How cool was that? My kid at heart would be flipping out!

There was a very unique twist to this story.

I told everyone she is my baby. I lied.

My life changes forever when my little girl appears in a basket on my doorstep, her long lashes fluttering, only a few hours old. She’s so tiny and precious; my heart is hers in an instant.

My husband Tom and I have always longed for a child, so we agree not to tell the authorities. We won’t risk them taking her away. And I know if they find out my history, they’d never let me keep her…

I’m so grateful to have my beautiful baby, who we call Daisy. But while Tom refuses to talk about it, I can’t stop wondering who her biological parents are and why they left her with us?

Then someone sends me a message, enclosing it in a funeral programme I find on my kitchen table. Now I know the terrible truth about what happened to Daisy’s parents, and it’s closer to home than I could ever have imagined.

I thought I could protect us all, despite my past mistakes. But when the secrets I uncover put my family’s lives at risk, how far will I go to keep the little girl I love?

An utterly heart-pounding and twisty psychological suspense novel from bestseller L.G. Davis. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Teresa Driscoll and Freida McFadden.

First, I want to thank L.G. Davis, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you with this review.

Fans of twisted psychological thrillers, you must run out and get your copy of Stolen Baby by L.G. Davis today!! Out of all the books she has written (and I have been a fan for a while now) this has to be my favorite!  It is phenomenal and deserves way more than 5 stars!! If you like missing person cases with a HUGE twist then you must read this book!

Stolen Baby is addicting, edge of your seat, binge read, nail biting, gripping, suspenseful, twisted, shocking and heartbreaking. It's a story full of hurtful lies, betrayals, secrets and shocking revelations. If you blink you will literally miss something because she jumps time frames in the book quite often to keep you on your toes.

L.G.’s story tugged hard on my heart strings as I felt for many of the characters and their situations. There were a lot of important situations that were addressed in this book that I think many find somewhat relatable.

The climax and ending of Stolen Baby was perfection!!! Total perfection! I was left stunned in total shock! It was brilliant!! Never ever saw that coming!! I didn’t want it to end. I need more!!

“Megan, you need to call me. Wallace was here. He left a message to say please don’t worry. He’s coming for you soon.” As I hang up the call, my blood runs cold. I’ve spent a lifetime running from this man. But as I look down at his next victim, their face frozen in one final moment of fear, I can’t escape the feeling that I will be next to die.

When the body of Detective Susan Dupont is discovered lying across the dividing line of two counties,
Detective Megan Carpenter is immediately called to the scene. When her body is examined they find a sharp piece of metal has been lodged in her eye. A detail that takes Megan back to a deeply-buried memory which she has long been running from.

Twenty-four hours later, retired Detective Riley Denton is found dead at home. His death is deemed a tragic accident. He fell down the stairs and had no enemies. Why would anyone want him dead? But Megan feels sure there is a link to the deaths and there is only one person she can trust with her theory.

Calling in the help of her partner
Detective Ronnie Marsh, they start to piece together a link that places Megan right at the centre of a deadly plot. As they race to find the killer before they strike closer to home, a string of murder victims going back years starts to emerge. And when Megan discovers how the murders are linked, she has to finally accept a dark truth she has spent her life running from.

A killer from her past is back just like they promised and they will stop at nothing to take everything she loves. Can Megan stop them dead in their tracks or will she pay the ultimate price?

A totally addictive mystery thriller that will have you racing to the end, from a number one, New York TimesWall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author. Perfect for fans of Robert Dugoni, Michael Connelly and James Patterson.

The Final Victim
Written By Gregg Olsen
Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Gregg Olsen, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Ohh how I have missed Gregg Olsen’s Detective Megan Carpenter’s Series! I have been a huge fan of the series since his first book came out. Even though I am sad to learn The Final Victim is Gregg’s last in the series-he saved the best twists for last.

If you have not read any of Gregg’s Detective Megan Carpenter’s series I highly suggest you do because they are each amazing stories! However, you could read it as a standalone. I say this because Gregg refreshes the reader of the ups and downs of Megan’s past and how it has shaped the woman she has become now.

Megan’s stalker Wallace brought out all the mysterious twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my comfy chair, wide eyed, and glued to my kindle.

This was a twisted must read book that you have to add to your TBR list.

Gripping the phone, my hands tremble with fear. I look at my son and wonder how my darling blue-eyed boy could have done this. But as my eyes focus down on the body, I know what I must do. I know it will destroy our lives forever. 'Hello? I need help. It’s my child. He’s killed someone.'

As my son looks at me, his eyes pleading for help, all I can think in that moment is that I will do whatever it takes to protect him. A young girl’s lifeless body lies on the ground and my heart breaks when I realise I’m already too late to save her.

Our family will never be the same again.

I know I should call for help. But looking towards the phone table I see an old picture of the children playing in the garden. Our children and
hers. We used to be so close, I thought our families would be together for a lifetime. But in a moment of rage, the life I imagined has been snatched away.

But if I’m honest, I’ve been kidding myself about how perfect our lives were.

I’m a mother. I should be able to keep my children safe. But what I see in front of me cannot be denied. No one else is here. My son’s guilty.

How far will I go to protect him?

A completely gripping and pulse-pounding psychological thriller that will have you turning the pages late into the night. Perfect for fans of The Wife Between UsThe Girl on the Train and anything by Shari Lapena.

Victoria Jenkins lives with her husband and daughters in South Wales, where her bestselling series of crime novels featuring Detectives King and Lane is based. The first in the series, The Girls in the Water is a top 5 US kindle bestseller. She has an MA in Creative and Media Writing from the University of Wales, Swansea.

Since the King and Lane series, she has written ten standalone psychological thrillers.

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Victoria Jenkins, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

OMG!! Victoria Jenkins' The Mother’s Phone Call was like reading a manuscript for the next huge prime time soap opera to hit the big tv network! The one that everyone will be talking about at the water cooler the next day!! Ohh this one was fast paced, addicting, binge readable, and when I say drama filled oh I mean it!! If that isn’t enough then she puts more wicked curve balls into the mix to keep you on your toes. Yes, you will want to add this to your tbr list for this year.

Victoria starts off with a prologue that left me speechless! Yes, I am speechless! It is a phone call no mother in their right mind would ever want to make!!! I am not a Mom but had that been my Nephew I would not be able to hold it together! It is prologues like this that hook you into the story that make me want to read further and find out more.

My heart ached because Alice wanted so badly to get into her dream school of fashion and design and did everything in her power to make it happen. However, she sadly didn’t get accepted. In the same token I too would have been livid that Freya who had no interest whatsoever in fashion applied and got in.

Kids can be so cruel and Alice learns this lesson all too well with one scene in this book! I would have been so embarrassed and as mad as she had been!! What they did was totally uncalled for!!

What I found twisted was Freya, a teenager hitting on Alice’s Dad of all people!

The more you read this book, the twists and turns get darker until the big revelation. It is a must read for sure!
