“A riveting, unsettling crime novel that will keep you turning pages well past your bedtime. Is Anna O a sleeping beauty or a sleeping killer? Matthew Blake's tension-filled thriller is as elusive and mysterious as sleep itself.”Nita Prose, #1 New York Times author of The Maid and The Mystery Guest

Joining the ranks of Gillian Flynn, A. J. Finn, and Alex Michaelides, Matthew Blake delivers the thriller of the year: a dark, twisty, and shocking mystery about a young woman who commits a double murder while sleepwalking, and then never opens her eyes again.

ANNA O WILL WAKE UP THE WORLD

What if your nightmares weren’t really nightmares at all?

We spend an average of 33 years of our lives asleep. But what really happens, and what are we capable of, when we sleep?

Anna Ogilvy was a budding twenty-five-year-old writer with a bright future. Then, one night, she stabbed two people to death with no apparent motive—and hasn’t woken up since. Dubbed “Sleeping Beauty” by the tabloids, Anna’s condition is a rare psychosomatic disorder known to neurologists as “resignation syndrome.”

Dr. Benedict Prince is a forensic psychologist and an expert in the field of sleep-related homicides. His methods are the last hope of solving the infamous “Anna O’”case and waking Anna up so she can stand trial. But he must be careful treating such a high-profile suspect—he’s got career secrets and a complicated personal life of his own.

As Anna shows the first signs of stirring, Benedict must determine what really happened and whether Anna should be held responsible for her crimes.

Only Anna knows the truth about that night, but only Benedict knows how to discover it. And they’re both in danger from what they find out.

After discovering that the average person spends thirty-three years of their life asleep, Matthew Blake felt the pull of a story. He began extensive research into sleep-related crimes and into the mystery illness known as resignation syndrome, research that sparked a thrilling question: if someone commits murder while sleepwalking, are they innocent or guilty? And so his novel ANNA O was born.

Before writing fiction, Matthew worked as a researcher and speechwriter in Westminster. He studied English at Durham University and Merton College, Oxford and now lives in London.

WOW!!! Matthew Blake’s Anna O is an extraordinarily fascinating read that had me glued to the pages! I have heard so many wonderful things about this book that I just had to check it out! I am so glad that I did because this is a must read at 5 stars. You need to put this on the top of your TBR pile!! This is the first time I have read anything by Matthew Blake and it won’t be the last!

I am a huge fan of Medical Psychological Thrillers so when I heard about Anna O and how twisted it was I had to read it! Matthew Blake did an incredible job with all. the research that he did on Anna’s condition Resignation Syndrome. I was totally engrossed in this storyline!  I too suffer from sleep disorders and he brought up some very good points that I had never thought of before!

Instantly, this book caught my attention right from the first page! I was hooked til the end of it. Anna O was something that was ripped from the headlines and had that true crime vibe that I loved!

KitKat was one of the cutest characters in the book. My heart broke that she was in the middle of her parents' issues.

Matthew Blake, your Anna O must be made into a NetFlix series!! Everyone would be watching!

Our night was the kind that will ruin me for all others.

But then I got the dreaded call I rushed out without a second glance, knowing I’d likely never see him again.

My son will always come first – Always.

Imagine my surprise when Davis walks in and he’s the only one who can save my boy.

This cannot be happening – I guess it’s time to pull up my big girl panties and see what happens.

First, I want to thank Tina Skay and Enticing Journey Productions for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Oh how I absolutely adored reading about Roya’s and Ash’s story in Tina Skay’s new book Chancing Ash! This was my first time reading one of her books and I was impressed! It was a short fast paced read that you could devour in one sitting. In fact that is just what I did.

The cover graphics caught my attention along with the unique title of the book.

It has been a while but I can definitely confirm that Ash is my book boyfriend! I loved his character, his storyline, how he met and fell in love with Roya, and what he did to better himself to get her.

Ash’s Mom I was not a fan of at all. She was putting way too much pressure on Roya to be someone that she was not. I felt all the emotions that Roya felt with this situation.

Tina throws in some spicy scenes here and there that are tastefully done.

He was her secret, her sin, the heart she couldn’t love.

Emery Robert’s life is everything she wanted. Married to the love of her life, with a good job, and plans for a family in the future. But when Emery’s husband dies tragically, she is the one who stops living.

Three years later, at the age of 30, she’s still struggling to move on. Friends are encouraging her to date again, while her in-laws want to keep her in the past, trapping Emery in the middle.

Deciding to move to a new town to start fresh with a new job and house, Emery’s 17-year-old niece, Addison, moves in with her for her final year of high school, where she instantly forms a crush on the popular and mysterious, Mason James.

At 19 years old, Mason has been through far more than most. A past full of tragedy and loss. Being held back a year in school, Mason is mentally years beyond his peers. Not feeling he belongs anywhere, until he meets Addison’s very sexy aunt.

Overwhelmingly drawn to her, he can’t seem to get this older woman out of his head. And no matter how much Emery denies it, he’s the first one who has sparked life in her, making her feel things she shouldn’t.

As much as she fights her forbidden desire, the sparks between them can’t be denied. When reality crashes down, it’s not just the taboo of their age difference that will rip out their hearts. It’s what fate has in store for them that will show them how the heart breaks.

 A Good Enough Mother

Mia is telling me a story. It’s about a princess, who lives in a castle, on a street that bears a remarkable resemblance to ours. About a kind old lady who’s the queen. I’m distracted for a moment by her little hand softly slipping into mine. My daughter. My angel.

But then she says something that pulls me from my reverie. She says that the queen doesn’t treat the princess well. She punishes her and doesn’t let her eat anything…

Helen, my neighbour, has been so good to me. And more importantly, she’s so good with the children. Surely this is just another story of Mia’s, just make believe.

Because if it’s not, maybe my dad was right all along: I was never good enough to be a mother, and I’ve let my precious children down in the worst way possible.

A heartbreaking and uplifting story about the choices a mother makes for the sake of her children, perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Emma Robinson and Kate Hewitt.

A Good Enough Mother

Written By Sheila Norton

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Sheila Norton, Boldwood Books, NetGalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Ohh how I was looking forward to reading A Good Enough Mother by Sheila Norton. The cover graphics and the title drew me in instantly. Never had I read from this author before however she was compared to one of my faves Emma Robinson. Needless to say, I just had to read this book.

I love books that hook you instantly and pull you in right away. Unfortunately, A Good Enough Mother did not do this for me. Infact, it was a while until I really got into it and it started getting good.

The kids in this book were adorable! I chuckled at the way they said certain things and the mother kept correcting them. I remember my Father doing that to me as a kid and sometimes even now as an adult.

There was a really cute storyline regarding a boy calling wolf. The conversation the little girl had with her Mom was just so adorable. However, this topic was repetitive in this book. At one point I found myself getting frustrated and said out loud ok we get the message loud and clear.

I often wondered within the book why the Mom was dead against having the kids see their Father. It was a story that slowly built up throughout the book. Never, in a million years did I see the reason why.

Honestly, I hate to say this was not my favorite book. That doesn’t mean that it won’t be yours. That being said I would give it a try.
