After leaving her childhood village heartbroken, chef Ruby hasn’t been home in years. But could a chance trip down memory lane be the secret ingredient for a magical holiday season?

Ruby hasn’t been back home since she made the heart-wrenching decision to leave her childhood sweetheart, Nathan, for a career in London. But when she’s invited to judge the charity gingerbread competition, she decides it’s time. And it seems there’s Christmas mischief at work. Because Nathan is joining her as a gingerbread judge.

But it’s clear he would rather she’d stayed away, from his icy silence when they are alone, to the snarky comments and his accusing glare as they prepare for the event with other members of the community. And all Ruby wants to do is get back to London.

Then bad weather leaves her snowed in the village until after Christmas, with nowhere to stay. And things go from bad to worse when she slips on the ice… And falls straight into the arms of Nathan.

The pain of her injured ankle is nothing when, her heart aflutter, Nathan surprises her. As he scoops her up and sweeps her off to the hospital, it seems like the frost between them is finally thawing. But could the magic of Christmas mean a second chance is possible? Or is it too little too late?

Grab a blanket and curl up by the fire with this completely addictive and absolutely gorgeous festive romance, which fans of Sarah Morgan, Tracy Rees and Heidi Swain will love!

Sue Roberts lives in Lancashire with her long term partner Derek and has had a lifelong love of writing, encouraged by winning a school writing competition at the age of 11.

She always assumed that ‘one day’ she would write a book, always having a busy household and a job, the idea remained firmly on the back burner but never forgotten.

The inspiration for her first novel came to her on a holiday to a Greek village. Her daughters had left home and suddenly the time had come to write that book!

First, I want to thank Sue Roberts, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Tis the time of year when the weather slowly starts to change and the requests for Holiday books come in. As long as reading one does not jinx the Buffalo Winter Storms/Blizzards I am all for reading them!! Home This Christmas by Sue Roberts was one of those feel good books that kept your attention the whole book by keeping a smile on your face.

The graphics design team did such a cute job with the cover of Home This Christmas! They were fun and eye-catching and made me want to know more about the book.

If you know me you know I love reading and reviewing books. I also enjoy all things celebrities and or reality tv shows. So, when I found out that the characters in this book were food critics that were going to be in a celebrity cook off for a charity I thought this was so up my ally!! Not only how cool was it to have this as a career but to have this event and raise money for a good cause. This piqued my interest in where the story could go.

Needless to say, since this book revolved around food critiques all the mention of their food dishes made me hungry. Now I am wanting a BLT (well Sue mentioned a bacon sandwich on sourdough which made my mind wander to BLT).

My heart absolutely broke when right before the big event she was looking forward to she got sick. She never gets sick and BAM she gets hit with a massive one! I felt so disappointed for her.

If you are looking for a fun easy read you should put this on your TBR list!

Appy Ever After

Beth is fed up with dating.

Sam doesn’t date.

So why are they creating a dating app together…?

After a failed marriage and a string of strikeout dates, Beth is starting to think she’s not cut out for a forever love. Then she meets Sam.

Sam has an uncanny knack of matchmaking his friends into long-term relationships. Now they’ve challenged him to turn his skill into code - a dating app with a difference. It all seems ridiculous… until he’s introduced to Beth.

Beth’s job in venture capital, and her dating experience, are ideal. Plus, she desperately needs a fruitful client project, or her job is on the line.

Sam clearly has the matchmaking skill and the coding knowledge to make this app a success. Not only that, maybe he’ll find her a Mr Right?

When they start double dating for project research, Beth falls hard. There’s just one problem: Sam, an incurable romantic, has his heart set on a Paris meet-cute destiny, and won’t consider anyone else.

However, when they decide to fake date as part of the app’s marketing plan, it’s clear to everyone that they belong together.

But if Sam can’t see that Beth is his perfect partner, he’s failed the ultimate matchmaking test, and the app is doomed.

Can she change his mind, save the project, and secure them both an Appy Ever After?

Appy Ever After is a laugh-out-loud, closed door romcom full of chemistry but no spice.

Author Bio –

Writing romcoms is my happy place. After working in other genres for many years, I couldn’t resist the pull towards comedy and romance. I have a soft spot for stories with strong women, nice guys, and a touch of the bittersweet. I like the connection between my protagonists to be more than physical – a bond that helps solve their problems. Often I shine a light on mental health issues, especially neurodiversity, which is close to my heart.

Fundamentally, I try to write the books I like to read – those with wit, heart and intelligence.

Away from the writing desk, I enjoy great scenery, a relaxing train ride, delicious coffee and cake, and catching up with friends and fellow authors.

Chrissie Harrison is a pen name.

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Chrissie Harrison, Rachel’s Random Resources, and Valericain Press for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

I was drawn to the cute cover design by Alex Allden who was spot on with the design and the adorable name of the book Appy Ever After! With just the cover and title alone I needed to see what the book was about! So glad that I did.

Ohh Appy Ever After by Chrissie Harrison was the perfect fun read to escape reality from for a few hours! Being single for way too long and on these dreaded dating apps I could not help but crack up laughing at this book. Yeah, there were some scenarios in the book that I could totally relate to! If you want a fun filled fast paced read that will have you smiling I would give this a try.

I totally agreed with Beth on if love was a numbers game then I too was fed up with counting lol. These apps are brutal man as she clearly shows you in the book!

I loved how two people unlucky in love on a dating site came together to create their own dating site. This was definitely a fun read that should be added to your tbr.

Blurb

Neddy Emory and her brother Charles head up Angiras, a family-owned start-up with a radical innovation that will transform patient care for cystic fibrosis. They're about to go live with a revolutionary life-saving medical device. But they've hit a major snag. Critical research is unraveling and, to their shock and horror, one-by-one, team members are falling mysteriously ill.

Neddy and Charles race to move the project forward, while struggling to keep their employees safe. Failure is not an option. Without the device, their younger brother Daniel will die. But Neddy begins to suspect the company’s innovative research methods are being tampered with. When probed, Charles gaslights her. He refuses to slow down, claiming he is Daniel’s only hope.

Torn between loyalty to her family and the welfare of the staff, Neddy desperately searches for the truth. Then the unspeakable happens. A fatality. Charles appears to finally be persuaded. But his next move shocks her, and she realizes: the danger is only beginning. And she is on her own.

Who is Judy Kroll?

Judy Kroll worked for over twenty years in large and small corporations, including four years in the pharmaceutical industry, as a human resources professional and later as a career counselor. She provided job search assistance to hundreds of individuals, including physicians, pharmacists, medical device developers, chemists, and other scientists impacted by mergers and downsizings. She is a practicing yogi (twenty-three years.) Both corporate experiences as well as many years 'on the mat' inspired her book, Breakthrough. Specifically, in both of these very disparate worlds, she observed the same phenomenon: the devastation wrought when a much-respected boss or mentor turns out to be unethical, and one must find a new path forward, seemingly alone.

She lives in northern New Jersey, and in addition to writing, gardening, and practicing yoga, Judy co-chairs a not-for-profit conservation organization
