Darling Girls

Written By Sally Hepworth

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

WOW!! I am so thankful my book club decided to read Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth! I had never read anything by her but that will soon change! Her storyline was completely out of the box compared to other psychological thrillers! Which is one of the major reasons I loved it so much! It was fast paced, addicting, and binge readable!

Darling Girls main theme was sisterhood within the foster care facility. They may not have been blood related but they shared a very special bond. Reading this book I kept picturing the movie Annie and her friends in the orphanage with Mrs. Hannigan.

My heart ached when Alicia lost her Granny! I felt the exact same way when I lost my Dad 4 months ago. Sally wrote a line in the book that brought me to tears. That line was with Grammy dead, nothing will ever be right again. That is so very true!!

Amy’s story totally blew me away!!! It was one of the most interesting storylines of the whole book. Not to mention the huge twist at the end that was omg!!

Lucy will carry Sophie’s child. But she does want something in return…

Sophie should be the happiest woman in the world. A good job. A nice home. Best of all, married to Matt, the love of her life.

But there’s one thing she doesn’t have – a baby. She knows that without a child of her own to love, she will never feel complete. This emptiness at the center of her life is driving her to the edge of madness.

Then Lucy, her best friend forever, comes back to live in their home town - and offers to have a baby for Sophie.

Which sounds wonderful. But Sophie doesn’t realize that Lucy has a sinister agenda of her own. And together they are about to take a journey to the innermost circle of hell.

The Surrogate
Written By Iain Maitland

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Iain Maitland, Inkubator Books and Zooloo Book Tours for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

WOW!! Iain Maitland totally blew my mind with The Surrogate! Iain started it off one way and gave it multiple twists and some major omg bombshells!!! Oh these bombshells you did not see coming at all and I am still in shock over it. This was definitely a fast paced one sitting binge read.

The graphics of the book caught my attention straight away. How could you love a pair of cute little baby shoes and wonder what the book would be about. That and the name caught my eye. It made me want to know what the book was about.

My heart broke for Sophie as she had everything she wanted in life except for a baby to call her own. She and her husband tried everything from the old fashioned way to many rounds of IVF and nothing.

When I say there are so many twists in this story I seriously mean there are so many twists and turn!! There are many jaw dropping storylines as well. If you like action packed scenes well Iain has you covered as well. Safe to say he has a little bit of everything for every reader including sexy bits.

The rules are there to keep their family safe. But what happens when they get broken…?

Fiona Fisher
lives a quiet and contented existence. A former nurse who married Jason, the doctor of her dreams, she is now a mother to his two daughters and living in the sort of cosy village home she’d always wished for.

Life is pretty much perfect in every way. As long as they stick to their rules…

Everyone in bed by eight o’clock sharp.

No loud music, no news on the TV, no social media. The house phone for emergency use only.

Locks on every door. No leaving the house.

And absolutely no talking about the past.

But one day, someone starts breaking the rules…

This insanely twisty psychological thriller will have you flipping pages all night long. Anyone who held their breath as they raced through The HousemaidThe Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train needs to drop everything and start reading!

Samantha Hayes grew up in a creative family where her love of writing began as a child. Samantha has written over twenty thrillers, including the bestselling titles Date Night and Until You’re Mine. The Independent called her writing ‘fantastically written and very tense’ while Good Housekeeping said ‘her believable psychological thrillers are completely gripping.’ Samantha’s books are published in multiple languages (over twenty-two at the last count).

In her free time, Sam loves painting watercolours, going to the gym and swimming. She has three grown-up children and lives in Warwickshire.

The Marriage Rules

Written By Samantha Hayes

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Samantha Hayes, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Samantha Hayes is back with what I found to be a very different psychological thriller than any other I had read in the past. This one I had mixed feelings with right from the start as Jason Fiona’s husband gave her a list of marriage rules she had to abide by and could not disobey them ever. Not only did Fiona not like these rules but her step daughters didn't either nor did I care for them!!

The two rules I didn't care for the most was you could only grieve for your loved one that passed for an hour on Sunday at 5pm. Why couldn't you grieve before or after then? My other rule I didn't care for was you couldn’t talk about the past. So you couldn't talk about what happened to that loved one to help you heal. I just lost my Dad in December and my heart broke for these two girls who were dealing with this. Not to mention the Step Mom who now has to deal with these rules and has to deal with this odd behavior.

What was he hiding that he didn’t want her or the kids watching the news, no social media, no phones, tablets or internet after 6pm?
