The rules are there to keep their family safe. But what happens when they get broken…?

Fiona Fisher
lives a quiet and contented existence. A former nurse who married Jason, the doctor of her dreams, she is now a mother to his two daughters and living in the sort of cosy village home she’d always wished for.

Life is pretty much perfect in every way. As long as they stick to their rules…

Everyone in bed by eight o’clock sharp.

No loud music, no news on the TV, no social media. The house phone for emergency use only.

Locks on every door. No leaving the house.

And absolutely no talking about the past.

But one day, someone starts breaking the rules…

This insanely twisty psychological thriller will have you flipping pages all night long. Anyone who held their breath as they raced through The HousemaidThe Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train needs to drop everything and start reading!

Samantha Hayes grew up in a creative family where her love of writing began as a child. Samantha has written over twenty thrillers, including the bestselling titles Date Night and Until You’re Mine. The Marriage Rules

Written By Samantha Hayes

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Samantha Hayes, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Samantha Hayes is back with what I found to be a very different psychological thriller than any other I had read in the past. This one I had mixed feelings with right from the start as Jason Fiona’s husband gave her a list of marriage rules she had to abide by and could not disobey them ever. Not only did Fiona not like these rules but her step daughters didn't either nor did I care for them!!

The two rules I didn't care for the most was you could only grieve for your loved one that passed for an hour on Sunday at 5pm. Why couldn't you grieve before or after then? My other rule I didn't care for was you couldn’t talk about the past. So you couldn't talk about what happened to that loved one to help you heal. I just lost my Dad in December and my heart broke for these two girls who were dealing with this. Not to mention the Step Mom who now has to deal with these rules and has to deal with this odd behavior.

What was he hiding that he didn’t want her or the kids watching the news, no social media, no phones, tablets or internet after 6pm?

Two romance book lovers. One epic happily-ever-after.

Working at The Romance Library in the small seaside town of Sunshine Bay is Jane’s dream job. Which is why she can’t risk it by falling for her childhood crush and hot co-worker, Jackson.

With the library in big trouble, Jane should be focusing on finding ways to save it, not fantasising about Jackson popping her cherry.

But as a thirty-one-year-old virgin love librarian, Jane feels like a fraud. She doesn’t just want to read about passionate trysts in romance novels, she wants to experiencethem. And with their shared interests and explosive chemistry, Jackson would be theperfect man to help.

Except after what happened the last time she dated a colleague, Jane knows that if she crosses the line, the consequences could be catastrophic. Especially if her family finds out.

But when late-night book chats lead to Jane and Jackson recreating steamy scenes at the library, their bond deepens, and Jane realises that reading about romance is no longer enough. She’d love her own fairy tale: with him.

There’s a problem, though. Jane’s convinced that Jackson’s keeping a secret—something big. And if he’s not the man she thinks he is, it could shatter her dreams of a perfect happy ending, forever…

The Love Librarian is a steamy, dual POV, small-town, childhood friends-to-lovers romance, set in a library with an entertaining cast of romance book lovers, including a virgin female main character and a swoonworthy hero with a secret identity. Ideal for fans of Lucy Score and Meghan Quinn.

This novel can be read as a standalone, but is best enjoyed after devouring book one in the series, The Romance Library.

- Small-town romance
- Workplace romance
- Library setting

Whilst I love every second of penning my novels, writing about myself isn’t so easy... Where to begin?

Okay, so I’m a forty-something Londoner who loves cake and has always had a burning desire to write a novel. But it wasn’t until January 2016 that I was driven to take the leap. A close friend suddenly passed away and realising that life was too short not to start pursuing my dream, I set myself a goal to become a published author. Two and a half years (plus bucket loads of blood, sweat and tears) later in July 2018, my first-ever shiny book, The Middle-Aged Virgin became available on Amazon. It was definitely a pinch-me-is-it-real moment!

Seven months later in February 2019, I published my second novel Only When It’s Love to rave reviews (read more here). My third book Losing My Inhibitions was released in June 2019 and novel number four, Love Offline followed in November 2019.

I write under the pen name Olivia Spring to spare the blushes of those who know me and may read the racy sex scenes included in my books. Becoming an author has always been a lifelong dream and as writing is now my full-time focus, I am finally fortunate enough to call my passion my career. That means I get to spend my days sitting at my desk or in the park (and occasionally, if I’m really lucky, on a nice Mediterranean beach!), creating cool characters and stories to share with you.

Thanks for your support. Words can’t describe how much I appreciate you buying my books and sending me lovely messages and emails letting me know how much you’ve enjoyed reading my novels. It’s because of you that I am able to do what I love for a living and for that I am eternally grateful.

Look out for more novels coming very soon…

The Love Librarian

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Olivia Spring and Hartley Publishing for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Ohh Olivia Spring is back with The Love Librarian book 2 in The Romance Library Series and it is better than the first one!!! Please note this can also be read as a standalone if you had not read the first one. OMG Olivia turned up the spice big time in this and WOWZERS she had some pretty hott and steamy scenes written!! Now I want to find my special person and recreate some of those scenes too!! Olivia has talent writing those scenes!

I really appreciated that Olivia personally addressed her triggers in her book in the author's note in the beginning of her book. She wanted her readers to know that this story touched on toxic families, controlling parental behavior, racism, and a parent suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She cares about her readers and writes about these topics with care and thoughtfulness.

Kudos to the graphic designers who created the cover for The Love Librarian they did an incredible job! The graphic was eye catching and along with the title I just had to know what the book was about.

Jane and Jackson’s story had me smiling ear to ear from their backstory to how they came full circle!

Olivia pulled out a lot of emotions out of me in this book where so many time I wanted to reach into the book and hug the characters for comfort.

This is a fun and easy read that will have you smiling ear to ear and give you a little spark in your step. It is fast paced, addicting and can be read in one sitting.

Eva is Waiting
Romola Farr
Publication date: February 14th 2025
Genres: Adult, Historical, Thriller

Following the death of her mother, Lily is sent to a remote girls’ boarding school, tearing her away from all the excitement of London in the Swingin’ Sixties. Bereft, she develops a relationship with Rainer, the husband of Sylvia, the headmistress.

One day, Bella, the school Collie, goes missing whilst playing on the shore below sheer cliffs. Despite a rising tide, Lily is determined to find the beautiful dog and discovers her trapped between rocks in a cave. Deepening water swirls around them as her fingertips dig into the sand and touch the smooth surface of what she believes to be an animal skull. From that moment on, she is haunted by a young girl pleading for help.

Lily speaks to her headmistress and learns that eleven years previously a pupil went missing. Eva was a refugee from Hungary, and it was assumed by the police that she had run away.

Forced to stay on at school during the Christmas holiday, Lily is caught between those who know what really happened and wish to silence her, and her determination to end Eva’s wait for justice.

But is history about to repeat itself?

EXCERPT

‘Don’t you have a heater?’ Lily was lying naked on a worn chaise longue with a gossamer thin veil artistically draped over her.

‘Heat burns out creativity.’ Rainer was sitting on a stool with a large pad on his lap, drawing Lily with a stub of pencil.

‘Am I to freeze my nether regions just for a sketch? I thought I deserved oils.’

‘First, liebling, I make sure I have all the correct proportions in pencil before I commence with charcoal, unless you want to have große Brüste und fette Oberschenkel.’

‘I think I’ve been inoculated against that!’

‘You are very funny.’

‘My mother told me I have a queer sense of humour.’

Rainer got up from the stool and placed the pad and pencil on the seat. He looked at Lily and she felt a surge. Since that amazing night, she had acted upon many urges alone in her room, then had knelt by her bed to pray for forgiveness. In her former school, Miss Rooney had made it clear that self-gratification was against the teachings of Christ.

‘As for adultery and fornication,’ Miss Rooney had said, ‘they are an abomination and will send you straight to hell.’ She had slammed the palm of her hand down on her thigh as she paced about and eyed the young girls seated before her. Young girls who had yet to experience their first period and were still reading books by Enid Blyton.

Well, Lily thought, hell it shall be because she was hooked on the greatest drug of all and despite her belief in God, she would rather face His wrath than become a dried-up old prune like Miss Rooney.

Rainer knelt in front of her, and she felt his warm tobacco breath… so intoxicating. ‘You are beautiful,’ he said.

‘Make love to me,’ she whispered.

‘An artist sleeping with his model is a cliché, is it not?’

‘Call it the Spark effect.’

‘I don’t understand.’

‘Muriel Spark… she wrote The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. It’s a novella set in a girls’ school. If they ever make it into a film, I want to play Sandy.’

‘Sandy?’

‘She’s the smartest girl in the Brodie set and has an affair with the art master.’

‘Who is very handsome, no doubt.’

‘Of course. Unfortunately, Sandy ends their affair and becomes a Roman Catholic nun.’

He chuckled. ‘Is that your destiny?’

She shrugged. ‘Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be.’ She let the veil slip, exposing a youthful breast. ‘My fate is in your hands.’

He repositioned the veil and stepped back.

She forced a smile. ‘So, it’s a nunnery for me then?’

He looked at her. ‘I cannot imagine loving anyone more than I do you.’

‘What about Sylvia?’

‘She saved my life and has given me a future out of reach of the Russian bear.’

Lily wrapped the gauze tightly around her and stood. ‘I’d better go.’

‘Please stay. I owe Sylvia, but I want you.’ He pushed her gently down onto the chaise longue and knelt before her.
