Sitting at the edge of the loch, Tara clutches her heart-shaped pendant as the sunset turns the sky pink. The person who gave it to her once danced with her on the shore. But then he left for good. And now she can never share her secret…

Tara Ballantyne hasn’t been home to Loch Cameron since her childhood sweetheart and fiancé Ramsay Fraser suddenly broke her heart. She’s certain the secret she’s kept ever since is why he left without saying goodbye. But when her mother Dotty has a fall, Tara knows she must return to help her family with their guesthouse.

Dotty has never been able to understand why Tara left the village in the first place. And on an errand for her mother at the local farmer’s market after another row,
Tara is stunned when she runs into Ramsay. His deep, achingly familiar voice sends butterflies spinning through her stomach as they make plans to catch up. Could now be the moment to tell him her secret?

Then Tara sees Ramsay holding the hand of a little girl with a crooked smile just like his. Even if Ramsay still holds on to the other half of Tara’s gold pendant, it looks like he’s moved on for good. And she still can’t confess what she did all those years ago…

But seeing Ramsay again makes her mother light up, and Tara realises Dotty has missed him too. And as she comes to understand her mother more than ever before, Tara wonders if she’s been running away for all the wrong reasons.
Will Ramsay always be the one who got away? Or if Tara finally opens up, will she find happiness in the village?

It’s the middle of the night when I’m woken by urgent knocking. As I open the door, my heart stops when I recognize a face I never thought I’d see again: my foster daughter. Why has she come back here?

When
Riley disappeared as a teenager, it shook my sleepy hometown to the core. It ruined my life and I was never allowed to foster a child again. Now fifteen years later, she’s on my doorstep. Why is she back?

“Please help us, we have nowhere else to go,” Riley begs. She holds the hand of a small boy. As I look down, I see the unmistakable deep blue pools of her eyes mirrored in his own. I get the sudden sense there is something she isn’t telling me…

As I let them into my home, I can’t shake the feeling that Riley is hiding something. Then the day after she is seen arguing with one of her old friends,
the same person is found dead.

Could Riley have had anything to do with this?

I start to wonder whether something happened when she was a teenager. Something that she has come back to make right.
An icy fear settles inside of me.

Why has my foster daughter really returned? What secrets are about to be revealed—and how many people will have to die before they come to light?

An absolutely gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller, packed with twist after jaw-dropping twist. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Gillian Flynn and Lucinda Berry.

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Laura Wolfe, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

DANG!!! Laura Wolf takes you on a wickedly twisted roller coaster ride in her latest psychological suspense novel The Foster Daughter! This is a book you will need to clear your schedule as it is so intense you will just want to binge read it. Oh and the book sucks you in quickly as it is fast paced and totally addictive. You are going to want to put this one on the must read list.

When I say there are wicked twists in this book I really mean there are some serious twists in this book. Some of the twists caught me off guard and I even said oh snap to! Laura was really good at throwing us off the path for a few things if not more.

Laura created a very storyline that was very creative and was thought of outside of the box. I really loved that. Her story was unlike any I had ever read before.

The Noel Bridge

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Review

First, I want to thank Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road Press for providing me with this book so I may bring you with this review.

The Noel Bridge is my favorite Christmas Story that Jenny Hale has written. It is a beautifully written story that will give you all the feels and thensome. Not to mention it will put love in your heart and an everlasting smile on your face! It is one that you will want to put on your tbr list.

Kristen Ingebretson did a fantastic job with the cover design. It is so picturesque and represents The Noel Bridge so perfectly.

I loved that Alicia’s job was a nurse in Orthopedics and that she was a natural nurturer. A great quality to have and one of many reasons I really enjoyed this character.

My heart broke for the loss of Alicia’s fiancé Bo and all the heartache it had caused her.

The Noel Bridge reads like a Hallmark Christmas Movie in my head. I felt like this book had something for everyone to enjoy from heading home to where you grew up, making wishes on a special bridge, locating a missing person, a little romance, finding yourself in the process.

The Noel Bridge was set around Christmas time and there were definitely some devine miracles that came about. There were some very sweet bonding moments between some of the characters that will make you smile ear to ear.  It is for sure a feel good book

I loved how special this bridge was and how people would come to make wishes and they would come true. We saw this time and time again come true in the book. But also how spirits one in particular guided two special people together that were meant for eachother.

This is also a book about letting go of the past and following your heart to what you truly want, need and deserve in life.
