Born and raised a yankee who loves NY style pizza and philly cheesteaks. She was introduced to the amazing world of Southern BBQ after moving to Tennessee where she lives with her husband and two children. She considers her family her main priority, everything she does is for them. She attended college in the 90’s and received her degree in mathematics with a minor in secondary education, she went on to coach cheerleading and dance for 20 years winning a World Championship.
She loves anything and everything creative, so writing has always been a hobby. When she isn’t writing, she likes to wife hard, mom hard, paint, read good books and watch good movies.
Writing THE SECRETS WE CONCEAL has been an incredible journey. Writing through paramount sadness recalling moments from the past was challenging, but also immensely gratifying. I am who I am today partly because of my life’s experiences, all of them. I believe a glass half full mentality is what keeps me going, I make a personal choice to find the good in all things each day and appreciate the gifts that each person in my life has to offer. My hope is that this book will shed light on an uncomfortable topic and allow others to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
Thank you for reading The Secrets We Conceal. This was my debut novel, but my second novel is already in the works and I am looking forward to writing several more. If you enjoyed this book, please consider leaving an honest review on your favorite store.
Writing hasn’t been my career, my degree is in mathematics, and I have spent the last 20+ years in business. I had a story to tell, so I decided to tell it. The journey was challenging, emotional, and downright scary at times, but in the end, it was incredibly rewarding.
It was important to me to write this book to spread awareness about child sexual abuse. For so long this topic has been uncomfortable, something you just don’t talk about. You don’t sit down for coffee and say hey I’m a survivor of child sex abuse. Typically, when you do mention it, you can feel the listener squirming with discomfort. It isn’t easy to discuss. If my book helps one person along their personal survival journey, the hard work and effort put into writing the book will be worth it.
For mothers and fathers reading the book, know that it is okay to talk about this topic with your children. Open lines of communication can go a long way in giving your child a safe space if they need it. Sometimes they need a little nudge to open up about their abuse, it is difficult for a child to put into words.
To the Victims out there – you are a survivor! IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT! You didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t be afraid to talk to someone, there are a lot of resources out there now. SPEAK! FORGIVE! HEAL! Know that you deserve the best life has to offer, be willing and able to allow yourself to receive it. It is okay to not be okay. It is okay to ask for help!

Out of 1000 sexual assaults, approximately only 310 are reported to the police. Many children wait to report or never report child sexual abuse.
Important statistics on child sexual abuse.
• 1 in 4 girls and 1 and 13 boys experience child sexual abuse in some way during their childhood.
• 82% of all victims under 18 are female.
• Females 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.
• 90% of cases go unreported
The effects of child sexual abuse can be long-lasting and affect the victim's thought, acts, and feelings over a lifetime. Resulting in short-term and long-term physical and emotional health consequences. Victims are more likely than non-victims to experience the following mental health challenges.
• About 4 times more likely to develop symptoms of drug-abuse
• About 4 times more like to experience PTSD as adults • About 3 times more likely to experience a major depressive episode as adults
• Chronic conditions later in life, such as heart disease, obesity, and cancer
• Increased risk for suicide or suicide attempts • More like to engage in risky sexual behaviors or sex with multiple partners
Perpetrators of Child Sexual Abuse are often related to the Victim• 88% of CPS sexual abuse claims find the perpetrator is male. 9% of cases are female, and 3% are unknown. • 91% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by someone the child or child’s family knows.
Another outcome commonly associated with child sexual abuse is an increased risk of re-victimization throughout a person’s life. For example, recent studies have found:
• Females exposed to child sexual abuse are at 2-13 times increased risk of sexual victimization in adulthood.
• Individuals who experienced child sexual abuse are at twice the risk for non-sexual intimate partner violence.

Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews
First, I want to thank S.R. Fabrico and Kate Rock Tours for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
WOW!!! S.R. Fabrico’s debut novel Secrets We Conceal is an intensely powerful and emotional read! S.R.’s book is so highly addictive that I read it in one sitting! Secrets We Conceal is a 5 star read that must be put on the top of your TBR List! This is a book that everyone will be talking about!!
The cover of S.R. Fabrico’s book Secrets We Conceal is just as powerful as the book! I commend the graphic designers for creating this work of art! It definitely represents the book 100%!
Straight away from the first sentence S.R. Sucked me into this powerful, intense, informative, and emotional read! I literally could not put it down-it was so good.
S.R. Addressed a very important issue that is rarely talked about-but should be!
Laura’s character was my favorite of the characters in the book. Nobody should have ever had to go through what she did. Boy oh boy was she strong and brave throughout it all. S.R. Did a beautiful job detailing the emotions with Laura’s character! Many times I wanted to jump into the book and comfort her!
Ohh there were times when I yelled and screamed at my Kindle for the events going on!
S.R’s did her homework researching Child Abuse for her debut novel. At the end of the book she shares some statistics and gives her readers resources to use if in need.
Secrets We Conceal would be a perfect read for health classes, school counselor’s offices, social workers offices, and families. There is so much discussion that can come about from reading this book. She gives so much great advice and so many wonderful messages in it.
I would also highly suggest this for Book Clubs as there is discussion questions at the end of the book.
My heart was full of happiness as I was grinning from ear to ear at the unexpected ending.
S.R. Has an instant fan now that I have read this book! I would definitely read and review for her again!
