 Two Scoops, Too Much

Three’s a crowd, but not when it comes to best mates, Briony, Natalie and Lauren. As they tipsily toast the future down their favourite local, the Red Lion, the girls have never felt closer.

For Briony and Lauren at least, being intimate friends has taken on a whole new meaning. But as things between them heat up, does that mean they’ll need to put a label on their relationship?

And will their provocative plot to wreak revenge on Briony’s devious ex-lover, Mani, work out, or succeed only in putting her professional reputation on the line?

Meanwhile, Natalie’s affair with her sexy spin instructor, Jason, is now firmly behind her, and she is determined to keep the sparks flying with her loyal hubby, Martin. That is until a girls’ trip to a swanky London hotel reveals her head and her heart are still at dangerous odds; an epiphany that will have dire consequences.

As the friends unite in the face of an unbearable tragedy, they’ll need each other – and ice cream – more than ever before . . .

Trigger: Mental & Health and Suicide

Excerpt

Tears fell down Lauren’s cheeks. “After I just sang that beautiful song with you. After everything we’ve been through over the last few days. You’re just another straight girl. I’ll never learn!”

Briony was shocked by the utter devastation pouring out of Lauren. She shook her head. “No, don’t do that. I’m nothing like any of your straight-girl conquests. I love you. I love you!” She held Lauren’s face and leaned forward, so that theirforeheads were touching.

Lauren shook her off again. “I don’t know, Bri. You’re fucking gorgeous and this is probably going to happen a lot, and then there’ll be that one guy.”

Briony grabbed Lauren’s hand. “No, stop this.” She pulled her down the now familiar corridor and the staircase to the cellar, where she sat her on an empty barrel and pulled up another, so that they could sit facing each other, their kneestouching. “A bit familiar, huh?” Briony was playing the cute card, hoping to bring Lauren back to the point when they’d admitted their true feelings for each other, in the exact same place as they were now.

“Oh God, I love you so much, Bri, and to see you kissing Mani actually broke my heart.” The pain was written all over her face.

“But I didn’t kiss him! I didn’t! He stuck his tongue in my mouth and I pushedhim off.”

“Yeah, but you only did that because I called out your name.”

“No, no, it wasn’t like that at all. Do you really think I want to kiss him? Especially, like you said, after we sang that beautiful song together.”

Briony felt like she was a trapped tiger trying to claw her way out of the four walls surrounding her, yet she knew she hadn’t done anything wrong. “I don’t want to kiss him. I only want to kiss you.”

She leaned forward and awkwardly lunged towards Lauren, who turned her head. “Nah, thanks, you’ve got him all over your lips, and I don’t want to tastehim.”

“Well, I’ll fucking wash him off, then.”

Lauren watched Briony aggressively push the barrel backwards and search forsomething to clean her lips with. They were in a pub cellar, so they were surrounded by alcohol. “You want me to taste nice? Take your pick.” Briony spunaround with her arms wide open, urging Lauren to choose

something.

At that moment, something clicked in Lauren. She could  see the flames behind Briony’s eyes, and despite the fact she was angry with her, she was also finding her aggression a turn on. “OK, sit down, let’s talk.”

“You don’t get to dictate this,” said Briony. “I feel like shit, and I can’t bear to see you hurting. If the only thing I can do to prove that I didn’t want his kiss is to wash him off me in front of you then I will. I don’t want you tasting Mani either, so pick a drink!”

Lauren raised her eyebrows, sucked in her cheeks and looked around the cellar. “OK, so I don’t think he deserves alcohol, and I do rather like the taste of J2OOrange and Passion Fruit.”

“Well, that’s it, then.” Briony followed Lauren’s gaze across the cellar to where the soft drinks were stored. “What, this one?”

Lauren nodded. Briony ripped into the cellophane around a pack of twenty-fourJ2Os and pulled out a glass bottle. “So, this is how much he means to me.” She placed the edge of the bottle top on the side of a metal shelf and hammered the heel of her hand against it. It didn’t come off. “It’s so much more romantic in themovies,” she sighed.

They both laughed, before Briony tried again, and again. “Do you want ahand?”

“No, thank you.” And with one last bash of her hand, the bottle top flicked off and the girls heard it clatter on the cold concrete floor. Briony swigged the drink, swished the liquid around her mouth and gargled, before spitting it into an empty bucket. She then covered the opening of the bottle with her fingers and tipped it upside down, until she had some of the drink on them, which she wiped across her lips. Surely, there was nothing of Mani left on her now.

Lauren secretly questioned why she had reacted so venomously. Oh, man, thejealousy Briony sparks in me is something else, she thought to herself. Shewrapped her arms around Briony’s waist, before reaching up to her stomach and then cupping her breasts. “Oh God, that really was the worst, and I had no control over my words or anything. I’ve never met that part of myself before.”

Briony locked eyes with her and they paused for a moment, before passionatelykissing.

Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Terri Boas, Wrate’s Publishing and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Ohh how I loved Terri Boas Two Scoops, Too Much that I was giddy with smiles throughout the book! Two Scoops, Too Much was beautifully written with something for everyone I feel. It is a must add to your tbr list as this book gets 5 stars from me!

The graphic designers did such a great job on the cover. The picture was perfect with the meaning behind it.

Terri dedicates this book to her bub Portia. It always seems impossible, until it is done.

Too Scoops, Too Much I found out later on was a sequel to her debut novel. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to read that book but could follow along easily. That being said I would have loved to read the first one to get a better sense of the backstory.

I love all things pop culture so I loved all the references that were dropped in this book! The mention of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys had me laughing out loud. I am a HUGE Backstreet Boy fan and was able to meet him years ago!! Yes, I agree that he is handsome!

My heart just melted that two best friends finally found their way to each other! Their relationship was special and I just couldn’t stop smiling! This book totally touched my heart in so many ways!

There were two storylines that important issues were addressed. One of them broke my heart into pieces as I never saw that one coming! My heart ached for so many people.

Terri is a fantastic writer and I would gladly read and review for her again.
