Retired Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch captivates you on a third twisted police ride-along with more outrageously macabre and riveting stories from his 30-year career as a rookie patrol officer, sex crimes detective, child crimes supervisor and homicide night detective sergeant in this compelling follow-up to the 2019 Pinnacle Award-winning "Twisted But True" and the 2020 Pinnacle Award winning "Twisted But True Book II - Filling in the Cracks," which resulted in Darren being featured on ID Channel's American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda.
Darren's horrifically brutal and morbidly funny true-crime stories resumes with a vengeance, starting with manic stories like, finding a severed leg in "A Dumpster Fire," to the savagery of a triple murder in "Easter Massacre," to acts of depravity from sexual predators in "He's No Angel" and "Caught Red Faced," and even the supernatural with an inspirational tale in "Heavenly Sent."
Ret. Sgt. Darren Burch is a 29 year veteran with the Phx Police Dept. and was the Crime Stoppers (Silent Witness) Director at the time of his retirement. His prior assignments include Detective Sgt. with the Crimes Against Children Unit, Night Detective Sgt. with the Homicide Unit, and Adult Sex Crimes Detective. Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews
First, I want to thank Darren Burch and Writers Republic for providing me with their book so I may bring you this review.
YES!! YES!! YES!! Darren Burch is back and better than ever in Twisted But True Book III-Plugging Up The Holes! If you know me you know I LOVE all things true crime!! So, I was totally excited when Darren wrote a new one!! The stories Darren had shared were some of the wildest ones ever that made me shake my head. Oh and they totally made me laugh out loud as well. I am sad that this is the last one in the series.
Twisted But True is a series of three true crime books. I highly suggest reading them in order but you don't need to. This is a truly must read series.
Darren would love to dedicate this book to his amazing daughter Robyn whose brilliant light shines so brightly that it guides me out of the darkness where, at times, the sadness can be blinding.
I commend Darren for right up front giving a content warning. This book may not be suitable for all readers as it has some triggers in it.
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman had the honor of writing the foreward in Twisted But True Part III. I had to agree with him that Darren’s book is not only hilarious but it is incredibly deep and powerful. He reminded me just how funny the past stories were in the other books.
My heart goes out to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman as he lost his brother and two nephews to suicide. I can't imagine the pain and anguish that caused him and his family! I wanted to hop into the book and give him a huge hug to comfort him.
He touched on sleep deprivation and I totally 100% understand where he is coming from with this as I suffer from this!
In each chapter there is a story of an event or experience that Darren has had. At the end of the story there is a twist! Oh sometimes they are doozies!
Darren includes some pictures in this book that In my opinion makes the book more personal.
The story he shared in this book really fascinated me, made me shake my head, or had me rolling on the floor laughing.
