Mack Peters enjoys the good life now, but it always wasn’t that way. Twelve years before tragedy struck on a lovely Sunday morning as Mack and his father, Beverly Hills Police Chief Bill Watson, finished their breakfast on the patio of a Beverly Hills restaurant.  Chief Watson and the waitress who was pouring coffee were gunned down in a drive-by shooting and his mother suffered a stroke. At the time Mack was a member of the LAPD. The murder was still unsolved when his mother died. In his quest for peace of mind he resigned from the department andbackpacked through Europe for an extended time

After Mack returned to the States, the former LA cop struck it rich when he came up with an ingenuous idea that gave him a lot of free time and produced millions of dollars. If asked what he does for a living, he says with a smile, “I go to my mailbox and collect checks.”

With a thriving business that practically runs itself, hhas the luxury of being able to take off on trips when the spirit moves him. His friends Marcie and Kurt Conklin suggested that he visit a quaint town in Washington State called Leavenworth, and it wasn’t hard to persuade him. But they had an ulterior motive—a motive that resulted him agreeing to help one of their friends track down her missing sister. That led him to the remote small town of Watson Falls and a situation and people more deadly than he could have ever imagined.

Former interior designer Morgan St. James is the author of 18 books. A frequent panelist, moderator and speaker, she has also been on radio and TV. Morgan lives in Las Vegas with her trusty rescue dog Dylan, and is on the board of Writers of Southern Nevada.

When she first participated on panels or gave workshops, she was always asked if she had a book about writing. She didn't have one, but had written over 600 published articles about the craft and business of writing. Using the most popular topics, she wrote WRITERS' TRICKS OF THE TRADE, an easy, fun-to-read guide for writers and authors at all stages of their careers, available in Kindle, eBook and paperback. The 4th edition, updated for 2020, was released on December 6. St. James publishes the Writers Tricks of the Trade quarterly online magazine, which can be found at http://bit.ly/allWTTissues.

Her career started with the first book in the award-winning Silver Sisters Mysteries series, A CORPSE IN THE SOUP. This series written with her real life sister Phyllice Bradner, also includes TERROR IN A TEAPOT, VANISHING ACT IN VEGAS and DIAMONDS IN THE DUMPSTER and the latest escapade, MURDER ON THE MENU. Silver Sisters Mysteries feature a team of identical twins--Goldie, an over-the-hill flower child who owns an antique shop in Juneau, Alaska and her fashionista twin Godiva, a wealthy syndicated advice columnist who lives on an estate in Beverly Hills, California. Their elderly mother and uncle, former vaudeville magicians, are the sidekicks who love to dress in disguise and go undercover. They don't have to look for trouble--it finds them. Occasionally, as in VANISHING ACT IN VEGAS and MURDER ON THE MENU, Godiva's son Torch or Goldie's daugter Chili Pepper, also become involved.

St. James and her real life sister Phyllice Bradner love writing this series together, but most important, it has brought them together as best friends as well as co-authors and sisters. Fun, fast moving, filled with twists, turns and laughs.

The REVENGE IS FUN series, features light mysteries with a twist of getting revenge. They include GETTING EVEN,RIPOFF, PAYBACK and BUMPING OFF FAT VINNY and the latest book, SCAMMED. The protagonists in BUMPING OFF FAT VINNY, a funny fictional crime caper co-authored with true crime writer Dennis N. Griffin, are all out for revenge but Vinny seems to have 9 lives. RIPOFF, features a plot to embezzle millions from the Federal government that would have worked but for three savvy women. Co-authored with Caroline Rowe, it was inspired by some actual incidents when they both worked for the same government contractor. Who knew manufacturing in Federal prisons is close to a billion dollar a year business? GETTING EVEN is the novella prequel to RIPOFF. In PAYBACK the ladies are back again. Is it possible a seemingly unrelated murder and drug money laundering scheme are actually pieces of a bigger puzzle? But, the two teams come together in SCAMMED, filled with twists and turns as new details of fraud, drugs and murder are unraveled in Southern California's upscale Venice Canals community.

Multiple award-winning INCEST, MURDER AND A MIRACLE: The True Story Behind the Cheryl Pierson Murder-For-Hire Headlines, has received worldwide attention. Cheryl and Rob Cuccio have appeared on multiple TV shows and in People magazine. The book is currently under option by a major TV movie production company. NO MORE CRYING ANGELS (Oct. 2017 release): Bella Capo's true story of surviving abuse and BETRAYED, fiction inspired by actual events of kidnapping and rape that happened in Chicago in the late 1950s, are also a departure from the funny mysteries Morgan loves to write. Through writing these books, Morgan became an advocate for abuse awareness and prevention.

Her first single author anthology, The MAFIA FUNERAL and Other Short Stories was released in paperback and Kindle in February 2012. Morgan was editor and a contributor to her mother Rosetta Schwartz's delightful memoir, CAN WE COME IN AND LAUGH, TOO?, released in May 2012. Her short stories appear in many anthologies, including three in Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

Morgan loves to tell stories, and many situations or characters are inspired by her personal experiences. She has been fortunate to travel extensively, meet people in all walks of life and has had career experience in many fields. Writing has been her passion since the late 1990s.

Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Morgan St. James for providing me this book so I may bring you this review.

Watson Falls by Morgan St. James has a very different vibe than most mystery novels out there. She picks a wide range of topics that is perfect for each reader’s taste.

The cover of this book is truly breathtaking! The cover artist did an incredible job with this!

Never did I imagine when I opened up this book I would be escaping to so many different travel destinations. Morgan sure did take me on a trip of a lifetime! She was detailed in the specific places Mack went to. Plus, she gave some history about some of the places. I enjoyed learning about Amsterdam the best.

Mack sure made me hungry with all the yummy culinary cuisines he had in his adventures. I really wanted to try the Blueberry Cheesecake Pie. That sounded sinful!

My heart ached for the tragedy in Mack’s life.

There were definitely some comical parts of this book where I could not stop laughing.

The mystery around Greta the reporter who was missing was a very interesting storyline with a lot of twists and turns.

Morgan mentions that writing is a lonely profession. However, I am so glad that her sister, the editor and co-author of her Silver Sister Mysteries has been there since day one! Family is so very important! She has been her encouragement and her humor in all of this.

She dedicates this book to her dear late mother. She was the one that gave her the confidence to do whatever she put her mind to.
