Heidi Lynn's Book Reviews
First,
I want to thank D.R. Markham for providing me with this book so I may bring you
this review.
D.R.
Markham’s debut novel with Involuntary Admissions is a must read if you love
Medical/Psychological Thrillers as much as I do! The storyline was fresh,
unique, and totally unlike anything I had ever read. I love authors who look outside the box when
they create their stories. This is definitely one of those times. D.R. hooks
you right in the beginning and takes you on a very interesting ride inside a twisted
mental institution. D.R. has an amazing future ahead of hers in this genre! She
is a brilliant writer a storyteller!
Involuntary
Admissions is the perfect title for this book! Not to mention the cover of the
book is perfect too! It may look simple with just the syringe. However, that symbolizes
so much of the book. So, you put the title and the syringe together with the
background colors and it is the perfect representation! Kudos to the graphic
designer for capturing the essence of the story onto the cover.
D.R.
does bring up some very important issues in this book that I feel should have a
trigger warning for my readers. Involuntary Admissions talks about Suicide, Mental
Health disorders, and witnessing someone die in front of you.
The
other important issue that it does talk about is the lengths a mother will go
to protect her child and keep her safe.
This
book was just the book I was craving to read! It had everything in a book that
I love. It had the medical aspect, the mystery/suspense, and the investigation,
and even a little bit of romance. Plus, some shocking moments that blew me
away!
I would
definitely read and review for D.R. Markham again. She is going places!
