The pickup was a very old, battered Dodge. Beyond it were two bearded men in plaid flannel shirts. The one with the axe was about forty, broad-shouldered, and dark-haired. The other one was tall, scruffy, a little younger, and had red hair. They both turned toward the approaching couple. The red-haired one stared at Desi in a way Eric didn’t like, but the other man smiled genially and said, “Howdy, folks. Pretty day, ain’t it?”

And then he swung the axe.

About the Author

Linda Griffin knew she wanted to be a “book maker” as soon as she learned to read and wrote her first story, “Judy and the Fairies,” at the age of six. She retired as fiction librarian for the San Diego Public Library to spend more time on her writing. “Your total is two thousand forty-eight dollars,” I tell the beaming bride-to-be who’s nearly blinding me with her over-the-top white teeth. She’s like Ross Geller from that one episode of Friends.

I used to dream of being just like her—hopeful, excited, no visible baby bump while planning my impending nuptials. Unfortunately, life has kicked me in the teeth often enough that I’m slowly stepping away from that fantasy. Had I only gotten hooked on Law and Order or Dr. Who, I might have become a lawyer or even a Time Lord. Note to self: investigate the kind of credentials needed to become a Time Lord.

I hand the credit card back to Brooklyn as her wedding party circles around her. Her maid of honor squeals—loudly—“Oh, my GOD, Brook! This is it!! Maybe you glanced at my author photo and thought, “Wait a second, she looks familiar…” That’s because Holly Cassidy is a pseudonym. My real name is Hannah Mary McKinnon, and I’m the author of various internationally bestselling suspense novels including Never Coming Home, and The Revenge List. My first novel was a romantic-comedy, and as Holly Cassidy I’m returning to those roots while adding a sprinkle or ten of Christmas, my favourite holiday season.

Who is Holly Cassidy / Hannah Mary McKinnon?

I was born in the UK, grew up in Switzerland, and moved to Canada in 2010. I had a long career in IT recruitment before leaving the corporate world in favour of telling stories, and I love my second career. I live in Oakville, Ontario with my Canadian husband and our three grown sons. And when I say grown, I mean grown. At 5ft8 I’m officially the shorty-pants of the family!

What’s with the different names?

Writing suspense and romance under two different names makes it less confusing for my audience. We wouldn’t want you picking up a Hannah Mary McKinnon book expecting sweetness and light and instead finding murder and darkness between the pages – or vice-versa. While Hannah Mary McKinnon = darker stuff, pick up a Holly Cassidy novel and you’re guaranteed a happy ending. I promise!

Why Holly Cassidy?

There’s a story (of course there is)! “Holly” because I write holiday romantic comedies and it’s the epitome of festive. “Cassidy” because it means curly-haired (look at my photo and you’ll see how it fits), and “HC” stands for Happy Christmas. We thought it was cute and hope you do, too.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas-just don’t jinx the snow! Holly Cassidy’s The Christmas Wager read like a Hallmark Movie playing in my head! If you know me and how much I adore Hallmark Christmas Movies you know this is a huge compliment! This was such a cute, fun, easy read that will have you smiling!

The graphic designers did a fantastic job creating the book cover for the Christmas Wager! I loved how they captured the theme of the book in such a cartoonish way. 

If Maple Falls is a real destination then sign me up for a road trip! I love how Holly made the small town so picturesque, warm and inviting! 

I adored reading Jesse and Bella’s story!

Ohh Michelle Ramirez pulled on my heartstrings tightly that I needed to grab the tissues in her latest book Piece By Piece! WOW!! She just brought all the emotions out of me with this one-good and bad! 

The graphics designer did an amazing job with Michelle’s book cover. It was one thing that hooked me to wanting to know what the story was about.

Piece By Piece is a short quick read that is totally addicting. From page one I was totally hooked on the book and read it in one sitting. 

One thing that was unique about this book is she incorporated a playlist of songs that coincided with the storyline. Many of them are my favorites. 

There were so many times I wanted to jump in the book and give Grace a huge hug for all the ups and downs she faced in this book! She was one tough cookie! 

I absolutely loved the bond Grace had with her Grandpa and their storyline. Reading about their close bond made me miss my late Gram.

WOW!!! Ryan was so right about this storyline just like you see in the movies! Jen Craven’s latest book The Baby Left Behind will pull on all of your heart strings and thensome! Infact, it was a good thing I had tissues on hand as I needed them. 

The Bookouture Graphic Designers have done it again! I was instantly drawn to the book cover! The colors, the scene, and the title made me want to know what this book was about! 

Jen Craven grasped my attention right from the first two sentences from the Prologue! I was hooked as the scene was so detailed and descriptive that I felt like I was right there with them. 

The ultimate question in this book is what would you do? I was not blessed to be a mother and can’t imagine how painful each of their decisions were! My heart broke for both girls in this situation. If I was put in the same situation I honestly don’t know what I would do! 

My favorite character in this book had to be Ryan! I absolutely loved and adored his extremely outgoing personality! Loved how he was Cate’s rock though all of this! 

Loved the royal’s reference as I have always been a huge fan!

The Baby Left Behind would be a great book for your next book club meeting! There are so many issues brought up in this book that would make great conversation.  Infact, Jenn at the end of the book has some great discussion questions. 

I loved how she dedicated this book to all the mothers, want-to-be mothers, and the other mother’s who are doing their best!
