My missing sister is at my door. She’s in my home. She’s not who she says she is.

When my thirteen-year-old sister Lydia vanished, all they ever found was her purple, space-themed schoolbag, discarded in the mud. My family was left in tatters.

Now a girl claiming to be Lydia is nervously sipping tea at our kitchen counter. I want to believe her like our mother does, but I know she’s hiding something.

Why won’t Lydia let me into her room? Is it really amnesia stopping her talking about her time away from us? And why does she keep pushing me for details about her childhood illness, as if she doesn’t remember how it tore our family apart?

Sneaking into her room, I find a pocket notebook secreted away. Lines and lines of chillingly specific details about our family – things she should know instinctively. Then, one word that shakes me to my core. My suspicions curdle in my gut.

Who is the girl sleeping in the room next to me? Am I safe? Is my family?

An absolutely gripping and addictive psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages until late into the night. If you love The HousemaidGone Girl or The Other Daughter, you’ll adore Not My Sister.

WOW!!! I can’t imagine having my sister who I am close with disappear without a trace for 6 years just to show up all disheveled out of the blue! My mom and I would be so excited for the reunion and glad to have her home!! However, in Not My Sister by Rosie Walker you get that vibe right away that this book won't end well.

Let me be blunt right from the start I didn’t care for Lydia! She rubbed me the wrong way! A few things in particular like when she was younger she was incredibly sick however she has no recollection of that. The weird thing is she is perfectly healthy now. Lydia used to wear a back brace due to her scoliosis (I suffer from scoliosis as well) but now the back brace doesn’t fit. How does one not have any recollection of being sickly or any side effects from the sickness? Even her sister was floored by these facts!! This was just the tip of the iceberg why I didn't like her!! Who was this girl? Was she even the sister she claimed to be? Throughout the whole book I had my doubts on this!

What upset me was the Mom was favoring the daughter that returned over Annabel that had been there the whole time.

To me there were so many red flags with Lydia that made me want to scream and if I was not in public I would have.

The Child We Lost

What would you do if your lost child came back? ❤️ An emotional family drama, perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Kate Hewitt and Susan Lewis. ❤️

She pouts, looking upset, and I want nothing more than to kiss her better and say 'All right then, yes. Perhaps he can come back, perhaps he will, perhaps he has!' But I can’t. I know I can’t lie to her about this...

The day we lost Josh, a part of me broke. He was only three-and-a-half years old. His twin, Ruby, suddenly an only child.

We thought we were doing as well as expected. But when Ruby comes to me and says she saw Josh – alive – I assume she’s struggling more than we realised. It’s her way of holding on. Of refusing to let go.

But then I see him too.

A boy with Josh’s same pale blue eyes, the silvery-white hair that falls across his forehead in exactly the same way. It’s more than a similarity. This boy could be Josh’s twin.

How can that be possible?

I know I have to listen to my rational brain, that this must be my grief messing with my mind. But I can’t let go of the feeling that something is going on. Who is this boy? And does someone know more than they’re letting on?

A gripping, emotional page-turner about loss, love and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her child.

The Child We Lost

Written By Sheila Norton

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Sheila Norton, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review!

My heart totally broke into a million different little pieces reading The Child We Lost by Sheila Norton. You will need to stock up on tissues as the tears are going to fall and in my case ugly cried at times as some of the topics hit close to home! As emotional as it was it was addicting and I was able to binge read it in one sitting. Yes, I was that invested in these characters and the storyline.

The Child We Lost hit home deeply on many levels. My heart broke for Ruby who lost her twin brother Josh in a terrible bus accident. Sadly, I had a very young cousin who also was in a tragic school bus accident like Josh’s. So, I totally felt for what this family was going through. Not to mention that I am still grieving the loss of my Dad. I can understand the family still healing from their loss of Josh.

One part of the story that tugged on my heart is that Ruby thought she saw her brother Josh at school!! She swore up and down that it was him or maybe his ghost but it was him! Just having lost my Dad there have been times when I am out and I think that I see him. So, in a way I could relate to Ruby in wishing and praying that it was our loved one that was passed.

Of all the twists in all the books I have ever read I never read a twist like this before! It will tug on your heart and pull it on to many directions revealing many hidden truths.

Sheila’s book is beautifully written book based strongly around family.

He was the love of her life. He’s my husband.

Then: Ally

I didn’t think my heart could take it when David and I ended things. He was my first love, my everything. But as soon as he met Charlotte, I knew that nothing would ever be the same. We were friends once, me and her. But some things are too broken to fix… aren’t they?

Now: Charlotte

The hospital waiting room door flies open, and I look up desperately, willing somebody—anybody—to tell me that David is going to be alright. But it’s not a doctor. It’s Ally; her face pale, her hair wild. It’s years since we were close, but I’d know her anywhere. She loved my husband first, and I suspect still owns a piece of his heart that I’ve never managed to get back.

How did she hear about David? Why is she here? But then her eyes fill with tears. “It’s Joe,” she whispers, “my husband. He’s had an accident too. But they won’t tell me anything…”

Our husbands are fighting for their lives, and all we can do is wait. With the future so uncertain for us both, Ally and I begin to untangle the past. After all these years of secrets and hurt, has fate thrown us together again for a reason? One thing is certain: after tonight, nothing will ever be the same again…

From the bestselling author of Always You and Me, comes a completely heartbreaking and emotional page-turner about love, friendship and impossible choices. Perfect for fans of Shari Low, Colleen Hoover and Paige Toon.

Our Song

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

First, I want to thank Dani Atkins, Bookouture, and NetGalley for this book so I can bring you this review.

Warning…you will NEED your box of tissues for Dani Atkin’s latest book Our Song!! The last few scenes were just waterfalls of tears for oh so many reasons why!! Our Song is such an emotional book and if you just lost a loved one and are navigating grief there are scenes that will hit you hard. Sorry, just have to give you a heads up…

Our Song you have two different families and two different tragedies and one night that brings them back together for a twist you won't see coming. Well many twists that I didn’t see coming that lead up to the beautiful speech at the end that I am still in awe over!!! WOW!! That was classy what he said and did!

Our Song is a creatively, brilliantly, and beautifully written story that will stay close to your heart way after you finish reading this story. I was totally addicted to this story and couldn’t put this book down. These characters I felt like I bonded with and felt all the feels and emotions. However, Jake omg that one scene with the book and then the stuffed animal. I just lost it couldnt stop crying!! The waterworks kept flowing!!! I wanted to jump into the story and give him a hug and tell him how sorry I was! I knew how he was feeling!!

This is the book for you if you like emotional dramas that are situated in a medical setting. One of my favorite genres (even though I cry like a baby). Plus, Dani also educates and explains many medical diagnoses and procedures both patients in this story have.

There is so much I want to say but I don't want to give too much away!! This is a must read book! Dani deserves more than 5 stars for this book!! This also would be great at a Hallmark Movie.

What is Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy about?

THE SUNDAY TIMES NO.1 BESTSELLER

Half His Age is a highly anticipated, funny, sad, thrilling novel about sex, class, desire, and power – and the (often misguided) lengths we’ll go to to get what we want, from Jennette McCurdy, the three-million copy bestselling author of I'm Glad My Mom Died.

'SHOCKING, HONEST AND UNSPARING' SUNDAY TIMES STYLE

'A HILARIOUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE TRIUMPH' GUARDIAN

'EERIE, UNSETTLING AND BELIEVABLE' GILLIAN FLYNN, AUTHOR OF GONE GIRL

'ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE' ELIZABETH DAY

Waldo is ravenous. Horny. Blunt. Naive. Wise. Impulsive. Lonely. Angry. Hurting. Endlessly wanting. And the thing she wants most of all? Mr. Korgy, her creative writing teacher.

Mr Korgy, with the wife and the kid and the mortgage and the bills, with the dead dreams and the atrophied looks and the growing paunch. She doesn’t know why she wants him. Is it his passion? His life experience? The fact that he knows books and films that she doesn’t? Or are they actually kindred spirits, sharing the same filter with which they each take in the world around them? Or, perhaps, it’s just enough that he sees her when no one else does.

Startlingly perceptive, mordantly funny, and keenly poignant, Half His Age is an incisive study of a yearning seventeen-year-old who disregards all obstacles in her effort to be seen, to be desired and to be loved.

'THOUGHT-PROVOKING, SHOCKING AND DARKLY COMIC' INDEPENDENT

Half His Age

Written By Jeannette McCurdy

Review By Heidi Lynn’s Book Reviews

DANG!!!! Half His Age is sooo incredibly tabooish that Jenette McCurdy will have EVERYONE talking about this book!! Who would have thought sweet little Sam from ICarly had this naughty little bad girl writing side to her?! In my opinion she is gifted in this genre and hope she writes more within it!! I know I would read more books from her like this.

Let’s talk about this incredible sexy and seductive cover that just screams read me!! Whomever thought of this graphic for the cover and the way they placed the title and author name was brilliant! It was perfect for this hook for this read. Not to mention that nail art is incredibly creative and the colors are perfect!

Half His Age was so different from any other book that I have ever read in the past, so addicting, alluring, fast paced, very tabooish graphic scenes that had me hooked and finished it in two sittings. I would have been one but I needed a few hours of sleep in between. Seriously, I didn't want to put it down! I needed to know what was going to happen and how it was going to end.

Half His Age for some females may be relatable if they had a crush on their teacher back in the day. I know I had a crush on my Biology Student Teacher but at 17 that behavior was not even on my radar!!

Jennette could have taken Waldo’s character in so many directions and I often wonder why she didn't go the many routes that she did. Typing that I wonder if she is going to do a sequel as there is so many loose end questions. Now that I will definitely read.

If you read between the lines she does have a few important life lessons that peak through the story!

So, throughout the book I kept wondering why Jennette called the main character Waldo? I knew it was a female character but in my head I kept thinking it was Waldo from where’s Waldo.
