First, I want to thank Arianne Richmonde, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

OMG!!!! Arianne Richmond totally blew my mind with her wickedly evil climatic ending that left me speechless in The Prenup! With each book that Arianne writes she gets better and better. Having been a fan of hers for a while I can say this is my favorite of all. It has bestseller written all over it!

Arianne once again reminded how shady men can be and that it is not that bad being single! Oh how I don’t miss being gaslit, lied to, betrayed, repeatedly cheated on, etc. YES, the more I learned about Lucus and his father the more I despised them both.

Shockingly and to my great surprise Claudia is the character I felt the most connection with. She had a lot of great deep insight about her own sexuality that really hit home for me.

The Prenup is broken up into parts where we learn there is more than one side of the story. In the beginning Ava and Lucus shares their story with us. Ohh but it isn’t til the end where Arianne flips the switch and we learn the whole truth from Claudia! Ohh I was speechless at how wickedly good this plot twist was!

Arianne The Prenup is incredibly fast paced that is so intense that I devoured it in one sitting! You should definitely add this to your TBR read as it is a must read!

She Says She's My Daughter: A gripping and addictive psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist by Lauren North

‘I don’t know who you are or why you’ve come here,’ I say, jabbing my finger at her, shaking as much as my voice. ‘But you are not my daughter. You are not Abigail.’

Fourteen years ago, our family holiday ended in tragedy when my darling four-year-old girl was snatched from us on the beach. Not a day goes by when I don’t picture her wide brown eyes, and the freckles dusting her cheeks. I only looked away for a second, and I have never forgiven myself.

Today, a seventeen-year-old girl has walked into a police station near our house. She says she’s my daughter. Abigail is back. I can’t believe it. After years of grieving, my family is finally complete again.

This should be the happiest moment of my life, but something doesn’t feel quite right. As hard as I try, I don’t know the teenager in front of me. Then holes appear in Abigail’s story, her accent starts to slip, and I catch her faking tears for the journalists outside – and I’m more certain than ever that she is not my daughter. That she is a stranger. And that we cannot trust her…

But if this mysterious girl isn’t Abigail, then who is she – and what does she want with my family?

A totally unputdownable psychological thriller with a twist that will blow you away. If you are a fan of K.L. Slater, Shari Lapena or B.A. Paris, you will be hooked!

First, I want to thank Lauren North, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

OMG!!! Lauren North's last minute twist at the end of She Says She’s My Daughter totally shocked the heck out of me! Never did I once think this was how your book was going to end! The bombshells in your book were wickedly good!! My Mind is still trying to wrap my head around this story! SOO GOOD!!!

She Says She’s My Daughter is a story that could be ripped straight from the headlines! It is a truly heartbreaking story that is every parent's worst nightmare come true. After reading this book I just want to give my nieces and nephews a huge hug and never let them go!

Ohh I was NOT a fan of Micheal when I learned all the scandalous things he did!! I was literally yelling at my Kindle!! My thought was why in the world would he do that during the tragic time!!

In the middle of the book I thought I figured out one huge mystery! Ohh how I found out how wrong I was! Lauren is GOOD at throwing us off the trail!

One major life lesson I took away from this book was to follow your initial gut instinct!!

She Says She’s My Daughter is heart wrenching, suspenseful, thrilling, has some intensely wicked twists that will blow your mind!! It is a must read!!

The Liberation of Mac MacCarrick

M/M Erotic Romance, Erotic Romantic Comedy

Karl “Mac” MacCarrick is an all-American boy. He’s a loyal friend, a loving son, and a dedicated student. On the surface, Mac has it all—a starting position on his Catholic college’s football team, the heart of his coach’s daughter. But Mac’s heart has never belonged to Kyauta, or any other girl, quite like he thinks it should.

After the Miracles training staff introduces alternative therapies to the team, Mac has wild dreams about his therapist, Kyauta's handsome brother Jalil. Mac feels torn. Although he doesn't want to hurt Kyauta, he doesn't think it would be right to lead her on if he can't provide her with the love she deserves.

The time has come for Mac to decide. He intends to liberate himself from his dilemma on the Fourth of July. Will he follow the path he feels is right for him, or will he adhere to the expectations of his church and society?

Excerpt

Jalil glanced at me, then looked down at his plate. I’m sure it was a trick of the light, but it looked like he was blushing.

“What esteemed guest?” Coach chuckled. “This is just Mac. I guess we’ll have to lock you in your room if we ever have an actual esteemed guest!”

Jalil flashed me a shy smile, and my mind was filled with thoughts of his strong, slim hands massaging my body. I ordered the thoughts to cease, reminding myself that tonight was the night when I stepped up my game with Kyauta. When it was time for me to go home, I took her aside with the intent of giving her a passionate kiss. However, it felt like I was kissing my mother, so I gave her a warm hug and told her I had a wonderful time.

At this morning’s session, I could hardly concentrate on yoga because I couldn’t stop thinking about what was coming after practice. Lidia whacked me on the butt with a towel and admonished me to get my head in the game. She always peppers our yoga sessions with football analogies. She’s a stickler for proper technique, but she’s also a lot of fun. Still, much though I like Lidia, I couldn’t wait to be alone with her nephew and his magic hands.

Self Help, Spiritual Inspiration

Date Published: 06-21-2021

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

This is a thought-provoking and enlightening exploration of spirituality and perception. The text functions as a guide to self-improvement, with a mixture of autobiographical elements and snippets of universal wisdom. The speaker provides accessible solutions to life's difficulties, and an outlook of optimism applicable to any circumstance. The illustrations and graphics are thoughtfully chosen, and the interactive textual elements give this work an originality that sets it apart. The speaker's own experiences and conclusions are at the heart of this fiction, and the first-person narrative voice creates a sense of proximity between author and reader. The text describes itself as 'a journey to the heart', and this truthful discovery of the self is reflected in the speaker's revelation of his whole self through the text. The narrative often presents a dichotomy between positive and negative outlooks or voices.

For example, the speaker includes sections in which his self-doubt speaks, 'you've got no proper education, you can't spell properly, you're dyslexic and your grammar is crap. You're not really a writer'. This negative voice directly opposes the sense of self-belief the speaker builds within the narrative. He uses examples such as this to remind readers that the journey to happiness is complex and that flaws or setbacks are natural. The negative separation or fragmentation of the self is prevalent in the lines, 'I do not love the grumpy me, the sad me, the hostile me, the parts of me that act as if I do not care'. The act of writing represents a unification of the self and an attempt to reframe the speaker's life into coherence. The frequent use of direct address and rhetorical questions promotes an active reading experience, in which the author opens up a dialogue with the reader. The text includes prompts and activities for the reader to engage with and learn from. Encouraging readers to take part in the text is emblematic of their journey to self-fulfillment and love, in which they must take responsibility for actively creating their own happiness.

The speaker depicts his process of enlightenment as a framework for others to emulate, and the format of the text demonstrates the transfer of agency to those who take part in the speaker's challenges at the end of each chapter. This work ultimately teaches us that 'we are the cause of what is' and thus sheds light on the crucial idea that every individual has the power to create themselves and their world positively.

He wasn’t sure what to expect from Lexi’s hangover, but he hadn’t expected waking up to an empty bed.

After adding a t-shirt to his lounge pants, he shuffled into the kitchen. No Lexi, but the coffeemaker had been turned on, and one mug had appeared in his dish rack.

If it weren’t for her little duffel bag on the floor of his bedroom he would have thought she’d left. He was reaching for a mug when the note caught his attention. A paper towel had been laid flat, and the word run was looped in some kind of blue goop.

Hair gel was his first thought, but as he picked it up he caught the scent. It was written in his dish soap. With a chuckle he pitched into the trash can.

Since he wasn’t sure when she would be back and didn’t want to leave the apartment open, he settled for a quick workout in his living room. The scent of sausage was heavy through the kitchen by the time she came in, panting.

Lexi didn’t say a word to him but passed him to stand at the sink. She turned the cold water on full and stuck her wrists under the spray. Grayson frowned.

“How far did you go? You’re fighting tonight, today is supposed to be a rest day for you.”

With her face flushed, she looked over her shoulder at him. It completed the look for him; flushed face, sports bra, and bike shorts that left little to the imagination, bent over in front of him. His mind immediately took a detour into being behind her in a different way. With her hair loose-

“I only went like two miles, most of it walking, that was why I took so long. Quick sprint at the end.”

She turned off the tap and dried her hands on a dish towel. He brought his imagination to heel and focused on the fact that she seemed comfortable in his place. He hadn’t been sure it was the right move, bringing her back here drunk; they hadn’t talked about it.

He shifted the sausage in the pan as the sizzling brought his attention back to the stove.

“So it’s okay that I brought you back here?” he asked.

“Yeah, it’s fine. I mean I’m yours now, right?”

Laughing dark eyes looked up at his, and though she spoke lightly, the statement hit him hard. Then she was talking again before he had time to think of a response.

“And it’s definitely okay if I’m getting breakfast,” she said with a smile.

“Good,” he said gruffly. “How do you like your eggs?”

He had to force the words through the sudden tightness in his chest. She was his. But was she really?

“I can make them,” she offered, and he shook his head.

“Go stretch while you’re still warmed up.”

“I don’t mind-”

Lexi stopped mid-sentence when he turned and pinned her with a stare. She snapped her mouth closed with an audible snap, and stomped past him towards the living room.

He smirked as he heard the music from her phone blast down the hall.

Good girl.

Prologue

Summer 1995, New England Marine Institute,

Near Fall River, Massachusetts

There they were, speeding to greet her, the reason Marianne could haul herself out of bed at 5 a.m. The two dolphins chirped and whirred, pressing up against her legs where she sat on the wood planks of the dock.

“Good morning, Mamie. Hey Sugarloaf!” She stroked their noses, then gasped as she slid into the water. Although a warm day in early July, the seawater off the coast of Massachusetts held a definite chill.

Being allowed to swim with these rescued wild dolphins was an act of spiritual generosity on their part. Anytime she needed peace and comfort she found it with them.

Mamie nuzzled her beak against Marianne’s belly, cackled, and grinned her huge grin, then Sugarloaf gently bumped his melon directly into her abdomen. That’s odd. It is as if they know. But how was that possible? She had only found out herself a few days ago.

When Sugarloaf whacked her gently with his tail, she grinned. “Ok, I hear you. Breakfast!” Pulling herself up out of the water, she reached for the bucket of fish on ice. The dolphins gulped down mackerel and herring and smiled for more.

Due to the additional responsibility, this summer internship was more rewarding than the previous year. Now, instead of assigning her grunt work, the staff in charge at NEMI felt safe with her and she was now entrusted with feeding and entertaining the rescued dolphins.

This was her life’s dream. But she was going to need a Bachelor’s, then a Master’s in marine biology. How would she manage? A lump formed in the back of her throat as she tried to figure out, yet again, how to tell her dad.

Gazing out across the gray-blue water, she could just make out the outline of the Elizabeth Islands. One was Cuttyhunk. It had been just as the travel brochure described: “An hour’s sail to a secluded paradise.” She sighed. An unusually warm day in May had extended into a glorious evening of sunburn, seafood, and laughter, with a sense of magic in the air. Not to mention the shots of Tequila, which added confidence, even pushiness, to his advances. She never knew if alcohol released a person’s inhibitions, to display who that person really was, or if it created a totally different persona. Well, it didn’t matter, now. To be fair, she’d had a few glasses of wine herself, so the fault wasn’t all his.

Mamie sidled up to Marianne’s leg and chattered softly. Sliding back into the water with plastic balls, Marianne played with her two friends, laughing out loud as they leaped into the air, tossing the balls back and forth.

“Marianne, good morning!”

“Hey, Trish!” Marianne headed back to the dock.

Tiny Trish Silva was in her mid-fifties, but from a distance looked sixteen. Slender and fit, she buzzed with energy, making Marianne think of a honeybee or a hummingbird, staying that thin thanks to a super-charged metabolism. Trish called out, “Labs show Mamie’s still thiamine deficient, so we have to dose her. You fed them yet?”

Marianne grinned. “Oh, I think I can persuade her.” She slipped the pasty little ball of nutrients into a chunk of fish and tossed it down Mamie’s open mouth. “Ta-da.”

Trish asked, “So, did you end it with him?”

Marianne nodded.

“How did he take it?”

“Not bad. At first.”

Trish shook her head. “Huh. What do you mean, at first?”

“Well, now he just keeps calling…”

“Oh man, seriously? I didn’t know rich guys did that.”

“Well, he’ll get it, eventually.” Marianne heard the doubt in her own voice and when Trish gave her an odd look, she repeated, “He’ll get it. If I ignore him, he’ll get the message.”

Trish shuddered. “Glad I don’t have to go through any of that anymore. OK, moving on, we had a rescue last nightJeremy and the team found a short-beaked common dolphin, a baby, just a few days old. She’s in the smallest tank and we’ve been holding her afloat…” She glanced at her watch. “Peter’s on now, then I need you to take a shift.”

“What happened to her?”

Trish ran her hands through her spiky gray hair. “An incident with a boat propellercut her fin up badly. The vet’s been and stitched her up, but she’s lost a lot of blood. We couldn’t find her mother or the pod. We named her Grace.”

The two women headed back toward the facility, where the tanks held rescued turtles, otters, dolphins, and sometimes whales. They were returned to the wild, if and when possible. The center tried to limit human contact so most could be sent back to the ocean, but sometimes the animals were too injured to be considered releasable.

There, in the small holding tank, Marianne saw Peter, a staff biologist, holding the new infant. Only about two feet long, the little dolphin lay still in Peter’s hands. While keeping her afloat, her blowhole out of the water, he reached for a bottle of formula and held the nipple to the dolphin’s stubby snout. She didn’t respond.

“Hasn’t eaten yet,” he said.

“Not a good sign.” Trish sighed.

Marianne climbed down into the water and took over from Peter.

“Give us a shout if you have any problems,” Trish said as she and Peter headed for the door.

Marianne stared down at Grace. The nasty cut in the baby’s fin was held together by a clear line of stitches. Otherwise, the little dolphin’s gray skin was flawless. Through the water, Marianne could make out the distinctive yellow and gray pattern in the shape of an hourglass on her flank.

A big eye watched her.

“Hey, little Gracie, you’ll be fine, you’ll be fine.” She crooned to the baby dolphin, but it remained still.

A strange stirring in her lower belly sent an icy sensation racing up Marianne’s spine. It wasn’t pain, exactly, just pressure, almost as if her insides were vibrating. She’d never felt anything like it. Was this normal in the first few weeks?

Then the little dolphin in her arms began to stir, almost vibrate, as well. And the sensation of pressure in her abdomen grew even stronger. She opened her mouth to call for help, but then the dolphin shivered, relaxed, and lay motionless. Marianne felt another chill of dread.

She called over her shoulder, “Trish, Trish? Can you come?”

As she shouted, Grace’s tail began to sweep up and down, and Marianne could feel its muscles bunching and tightening. Marianne gasped, as with a burst of energy the dolphin pushed out of her arms. The strange sensation down low in her abdomen faded until it disappeared.

“Trish! Come quickly!” She held on to the ladder and watched, mesmerized, as Grace swooped around the tank.

Trish came running out of one of the doors just in time to see the little dolphin return to Marianne and press up against her.

“That’s great!” Trish grinned and squatted down at the edge of the tank.

Grace gave a series of clicking sounds and Marianne reached for the bottle of formula. The baby pulled at it noisily, and after demolishing the bottle, took off around the tank again. Marianne threw back her head and laughed.

“Marianne,” a voice shouted from the doorway. It was Jennifer, the motherly admin/receptionist at the front desk. “Someone’s here asking for you. Young guy… tall, blond…”

Trish flashed Marianne a look. “Is that him?”

Marianne muttered, “Oh for God’s sake.” She called back to Jennifer. “Tell him I’m unavailable, OK? Thanks, Jen.”

“Oh, Marianne. That’s annoying.” Trish touched her arm. “And a bit scary! What are you going to do?”

Marianne shook her head and bit her lip.

This situation was getting out of hand.
